I'm in the call Radioddity camp. Get one connection wrong and you have a bright and shiny new paperweight.

Welcome! Not a bad handle. I think we're all learning new things continually. Like the old saying goes, if you're not getting better, you're getting worse. Welcome, fellow scanner enthusiast!

I have not mounted the radio in the skid steer yet… planning ahead…
-
I have five mobile gmrs units and several handhelds. The skid steer really blocks the signal from a handheld and I need an external antenna. I have reservations that a ghost antennae will survive and was hoping someone has already fought this battle.
-
Midland and others make off road antennas. I have abused the heck out of them with no issues. AND they don’t need a ground plane like a ghost or mx26
-
That’s one of many reasons why I’ll never own a midland. Gmrs antennas do not need chassis ground. All they need is a good ground plane. Two totally different things. A mag mount t of paint will never have a chassis ground just an fyi.

Lots of us newbies here. Welcome to the fire.

Unfortunately the Bridgecom repeaters do not have that feature. The easy solution for us is to connect the Bridgecom to the Arcom RC-210 controller.

Ok, now I'm confused as to what you're *actually* asking. First it sounded like you were looking for an antenna recommendation that could deal with moving around. Now it sounds like you HAVE an antenna and are looking for alternate mounting solutions? What's the problem you're actually trying to solve here?
-
The Arcom and Open Repeater willl do the same as well as voice if you choose too.

To update this: friend ordered the same antenna as me(gp9nc) from a different comet dealer. Both antennas come with the ham band paperwork and show the working frequency as 155mhz to 465mhz(close enough for gmrs of course) Both antennas had paperwork that stated "Ham bands only". Not a big deal at all but as a new buyer you would be slightly concerned thinking maybe you got sent the "other" gp9n available rather than the nca. Anyhow carry on. Thanks guys ya'll always offer tons of info to me so paying it forward with this post if anyone else comes across a similar concern. -
First off blueloctite ALL threaded connections. Mount and antenna! My opinion is an antenna on a spring hard mounted to an nmo directly to the machine somewhere would be my reccomendation. Even if you have to weld a mount tab to the machine. The antenna will be able to bend and deflect alot of impacts that way at least until the very base of it gets smashed. Im currently running two mxta26 antennas on heavy iron, one on a 390 size trackhoe, and another on d6 dozer. Both of which have held up fine but concrete dust is starting to corrode one of them pretty badly. I'm a big fan of the mxta26. My two have been going for about 3 months now no issues. But I really like the idea of a ghost mount as well as that would be easy to fit on a skidsteer but I feel like if it hit something it wouldn't be resilient at all.

My repeater's station ID has a polite mode whereas, the ID will stop when there is traffic and resume from the start.
-
About 3 years ago, I bought a brand new rack mount Motorola Repeater still in the box for $700, not including the duplexer. The brand new EMR Corp duplexer ran me about $450.
-
The other issue with the Bridgecom is that the ID cuts anyone off if they are transmitting through the repeater. The easy fix is to use an external controller. That way the ID volume will lower and still allow others to transmit at the same time.
-
Most repeater stations do not transmit the tone/code with the Station ID. The station ID is not for you, it is for the FCC.
-
Yes I have watched those videos along with downloading all of the instructions.
-
there aer a few videso out showing how too's and testing. This one is by Bridegroom.
-
If the magmount sticks to something metal you should be ok. But, you do need to check the antenna VSWRs along with the forward and reflected.
-
We have one RC-210 currently connected to our 2m repeater and an Allstar node and we have been pleased with it. And good to know they work well with Bridgecom repeaters.
-
RC-210 is a nice controller and they work well with the Bridgecomm Repeaters. Nice Choice
-
We are going to connect our Bridgecom repeater to one of the Arcom RC-210 controllers to take care of the ID issues. We already have two RC-210 controllers at the repeater site and one will have the GMRS and 70cm repeaters connected.

just found this. I use one of these for my repeater (have two spares because o got them cheap cheap).. I would jump on this fast, it won't last. has the CW built in, works great in Analog and programing software can be easily found on the web. Programing is also very easy. https://www.ebay.com/itm/388241287196?_skw=hytera+repeater&itmmeta=01JRPEFTZ08X1HGRTPVHAS7AX8&hash=item5a64fbe81c:g:23kAAOSwIkxn-U9c&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAA8FkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1e%2BB54XualnWfmh2IwQqtEulw42KYIFMgK5AkRQqwu9wISL1tOHCp7Ose8ZMWvjsntu7j%2F7%2FIMEJPBdIDZPJHAiRKXpz%2BRr1%2FqViHTGK0gIn3GjI35%2BCGoTtiZxWLZtmumMfhYY3c%2BJi8aOdZEXqoJjhGmKH5aptIxg54A126XZhsyg%2FclclDpcL%2F82X3up2hbNCjmTW0Hp7XRy8cTMlwN5RqRClVvDPOPOXHEwaWwpptv9HtY9h0eqTTq4sWMPHFD9q0xVpe3%2FoYXvp13cTFm2jphY6xoWUHEXpSaWr9WtUA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9Kvv87FZQ
