  2. 10-4 big buddy you;re right.. 10 codes came along after voice where as q codes were used primaly for Morse code..
  3. Good morning WRUE951! Using the iObit iTop VPN sometimes affects logging onto some social media websites. The VPN issue is that differing IP addresses show up and can be treated as BOTS or Spam.
  4. No it wasn’t. The Q codes started in 1912. QSL started in the 1920s. 10-4 was created in the 1930s.
  5. and 10-4 was around WAAAy before QSL
  6. Interesting,, are you seeing issues when you use your VPN? I just recently started using Nord and i've been seeing all kinds of HTML issues after i started using it, not just here but with other sites too.. I never suspected the VPN but next time will toggle it off to see if VPN is causing problems.
  7. Yup sir' yeeee
  8. The forum knows 'everything' Just ask
  9. Hello Group. Is the UV-5R and UV-18 Pro Max capable of dual receive? Thank you! WSIC904/KB9VVT
  10. Today
  11. Thanks to Rich for running down the issue! There was an issue with the e-mail used to register and using VPN. Now, thanks to Rich, we are registered and able to post. WSIC904/KB9VVT
  12. You can, however, get a magnet-mount antenna tuned for GMRS and put it on top of your vehicle, then use an adapter to attach the radio to the antenna. That will almost certainly give you a better signal, both transmitting and receiving. Antenna Adapter There are other magnet-mount antennas that some people like better, but this one has worked well for me. Feel free to solicit opinions.
  13. The forum would know you did it.
  14. No, but it might only be the cool people who got the notification.
  15. I had a great time on Field Day too.....40 CW is always my favorite band
  16. OHhhhhhh YES THEY DO !! QSL was around WAAAY before Gmrs was lol !!
  17. No, it’s not browser related. I didn’t change my password thru the alert page. I went to my profile and re-set my password and the alert disappeared. A browser would not know to do that.
  18. Either because you have the wrong receive code (better to use none at first) or because your transmitter radio is causing the receiver radio to go deaf, which is called “desense.”
  19. WSHY770 is a GMRS call sign. RadioID only issues DMR IDs to services which allow DMR. DMR is not available on GMRS under normal circumstances. If you have an amateur call sign you can get a DMR ID at RadioID.
  20. Why would the other radio not receive my transmission?
  21. So the repeater heard your transmission and gave a call sign.
  22. Agreed. It just fit the "I'm gonna look up this person's call sign so I can send them something" thing.
  23. Oh boy, I must really be messed up and beyond any help since I have my Amateur and GMRS licenses. I can't speak for other repeater owners. I do try to answer any and all requests in a timely manner. PS: I'm not crazy, I am perfectly insane, verified even.
  24. Went 100ft... Still a no go. However, after transmitting on Wouxun S88G, both radios picked up Morse code tones (station ID?).
  25. Try leaving DCS empty on the receive side and make sure you keep the transmitting radio some distance away from the receiving radio.
  26. Try 100 feet and report back.
