  1. Past hour
  2. It's the kind of rivalry where only 1 side thinks it's a rivalry
  3. Today
  4. Maybe the signal was working its way bouncing along through the Cajon Pass and up through the Santa Ana Canyon with the winds?
  5. For "some people", obviously not for me.
  6. You had fire? That must have been invented later.
  7. Good work! I'm old enough to remember when making fire was enough to impress the spouse.
  8. There is zero chance of that happening. Even the most diehard 9mm owners love and respect The Lord's caliber.
  9. Try pressing and holding the star key. also the best easiest way is to program in a computer.
  10. No doubt, the HLN9073 is the more elegant of the two designs. JJHXSM-like mic holders came with my Wouxuns mobiles. They are a little bendy, but useable. However, to use one in my particular car, it would require me to screw it to the dash or center console and suffer an awkward reach or create interference with other stuff. None of which are acceptable to me. The magnet solution, while imperfect, allows me to secure the mic to the radio's mounting bracket without effort or precision. Thanks for the information!
  11. The Red's records off of the carrier signal and not just the audio. As long as you have the transmit button down it will stay open (or until the timer times out).
  12. My unit has gotten on low power on my main repeater channel. For the life of me I can't figure how to get it back on high. I can not find anything in the manual.
  13. Hey, I tried to drift the thread to .45 acp versus 9mm.
  14. What fun would that be. Some of us look for stuff like that to "fix" for the heck of it. My wife was complaining that the new larger paper towel rolls wouldn't fit her holder. I said buy a new one, she like the existing one. So out to the garage, a full roll of the triples a tape measure and the appropriate sized drill bits. Less than five minutes. She's happy and I got to use tools.
  15. Though here's an interesting one. I'm down on the coast in Los Angeles. Went to the store and turned on my radio. I was picking up folks from Victorville and Barstow which is about 140 miles and over some relatively high (SoCal speaking) mountains. This was not off of a repeater. Radio waves can be some sneaky things. Can't hear someone a block away, but hear someone from over a hundred miles away.
  16. I keep an e-copy in cloud storage.
  17. I made one up and put it in my wallet.
  18. to each 'his' own.. Have fun with that Simplex Repeater.
  19. The common GMRS openings I see in spring and fall happen around 8:00 Am to about 10:00 - 10:30 AM. And we do hear other repeater traffic on our repeaters when storms are near either us or the other repeaters.
  20. Yesterday
  21. I appreciate you telling me what I won't be happy with even after I have had satisfactory experiences.
  22. Hello W3AOL, How is your repeater working out? Is it getting much use? Nevin
  23. Do be sure to state your preferred pronouns and ask those of the other person. It shows you are both “enlightened” and silly. I’m told this is also a good idea on Grindr, but I’ll defer to The Queen for clarification.
  24. Of coarse this had to be a woxoun issue. this is how I solve this issue. $3 and solves the problem and the mic will never come out no matter how rugged the ride is. Same solution has been around for 50years No need to make gimmicky stuff that has to be modified out of the box
  25. There is no cop who will ask for a copy of your GMRS or Ham license. None. Never gonna happen.
  26. Hepburn Has A Great Tropospheric Ducting Mapping Site That Is Quite Accurate For The Michigan & Indiana Areas. The Map Is In UTC Time (Universal Time) Which Is (4) Hours Behind EST. Tap On The Map To Advance Time To (4) Hours Ahead Of The EST For An Accurate Current Map. The Map Helps Explain Your Recent GMRS Receptions.
