  4. This is the perfect place. I’m glad you’re feeling better and I hope for the best for you.
  5. Ok that’s what I was hoping. The size doesn’t matter too much on such a short wire. I was going to get some rg400 and connectors from DX Engineering and crimp / solder it. But these Uxcell pre-made jumper cables are very tempting at $15 each. Seems like good reviews. I’m probably going to try them. I’ll check it with my SWR meter. But I’m not sure the SWR meter will tell me how good or bad they are?
  6. I want to thank everyone for their help! I have not been on here for quite a while! I have stage four brain cancer and it has really taken a toll on me! I am feeling better for now thanks to the treatment! I still have difficulty with simple things, I am not sure I am putting my thanks in the correct place??? But everyone on here has very helpful with my questions and I see I have been on here for a year! Doesn’t seem like it!!! anyway my thanks to everyone!
  7. Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
  8. I have that antenna and it comes with an adapter, so for $34.89 he's all-in.
  9. The antenna has broken off our Brookstone Shower Radio (model 359760). I'd appreciate any advice on where I can get a replacement antenna, and what specs I need to be sure it has. (It's a 2001 radio, but it sounds and works great, so I'd like to avoid scrapping it.) I've seen replacement antennas on Amazon and elsewhere, but many are poorly rated because they are flimsy, and some are poorly rated they didn't fit the radio they were bought for. I've included a link that show what the antenna looked like. Any advice is appreciated! https://offerup.com/item/detail/cf6104d9-ef93-3891-a9a6-be57cb69920c
  10. 10-4 big buddy you;re right.. 10 codes came along after voice where as q codes were used primaly for Morse code..
  11. Good morning WRUE951! Using the iObit iTop VPN sometimes affects logging onto some social media websites. The VPN issue is that differing IP addresses show up and can be treated as BOTS or Spam.
  12. No it wasn’t. The Q codes started in 1912. QSL started in the 1920s. 10-4 was created in the 1930s.
  13. and 10-4 was around WAAAy before QSL
  14. Interesting,, are you seeing issues when you use your VPN? I just recently started using Nord and i've been seeing all kinds of HTML issues after i started using it, not just here but with other sites too.. I never suspected the VPN but next time will toggle it off to see if VPN is causing problems.
  15. Yup sir' yeeee
  16. The forum knows 'everything' Just ask
  17. Hello Group. Is the UV-5R and UV-18 Pro Max capable of dual receive? Thank you! WSIC904/KB9VVT
  18. Interesting.
  19. Thanks to Rich for running down the issue! There was an issue with the e-mail used to register and using VPN. Now, thanks to Rich, we are registered and able to post. WSIC904/KB9VVT
  20. You can, however, get a magnet-mount antenna tuned for GMRS and put it on top of your vehicle, then use an adapter to attach the radio to the antenna. That will almost certainly give you a better signal, both transmitting and receiving. Antenna Adapter There are other magnet-mount antennas that some people like better, but this one has worked well for me. Feel free to solicit opinions.
  21. The forum would know you did it.
  22. No, but it might only be the cool people who got the notification.
  23. I had a great time on Field Day too.....40 CW is always my favorite band
  24. OHhhhhhh YES THEY DO !! QSL was around WAAAY before Gmrs was lol !!
  25. No, it’s not browser related. I didn’t change my password thru the alert page. I went to my profile and re-set my password and the alert disappeared. A browser would not know to do that.
  26. Either because you have the wrong receive code (better to use none at first) or because your transmitter radio is causing the receiver radio to go deaf, which is called “desense.”
