Those both fall squarely under item #1 of my list.. He has a GMRS radio, and obviously he is a n00b so the mention of "offset" is unnecessary and only adds to his confusion.

Offset +5MHz use a channel that allows transmit you could post all the relevant menu settings so someone might spot what's wrong
-
There are only 3 possibilities: You're on the wrong channel You've entered the wrong code(s) You're too far from the repeater The repeater is no longer online
-
Yes I have tested simplex and that's fine. I cannot break the squelch, and I don't hear anything regarding. What would be your recommendation for programming that I might have missed? It's driving me nuts! LoL!!!

I'm sure the Danish Pebbles guy won't get it! He probably doesn't watch reruns on ME TV -

You mean like the cool people that sign-off with "KMG365"? -
I have a uv5g plus and a uv5r. unless you are literally standing next to me you would not know which i was keying up from when i talk to people on grms because i literally copied my config in chirp. that being said.. i am studying for ham and going to grow my knowledge and in the hobby so i can enjoy both use cases.. if i continue to enjoy it i will raise my "barrier for entry" and buy more expensive gear... but sticking with CCRs until i decide if im going to get bored and toss them in a drawer... but i am having fun so far and people have been,...over all pretty nice.

I think thte Crestline gorup just added a Repeater in Oak Hill.. I don't know if they are linking.. They have a huge footprint
-
Exactly! Because this advice is WRONG!! To "get caught" someone must first be looking for you.. and for someone to go looking for you, they must first care... TL;dr: You can't get caught by the FCC because the FCC isn't looking for you because the FCC does not care. SOURCE: The record of enforcements over the last 15 years as reported in the FCC's public enforcement database

You spelled "too much goverment overreach" wrong, but i digress we are all free men right.

Either way I was shocked.

I only did it once. So I don't know if it'll still be in the same spot if I went there again. I have to go back there in September... So it's going to be a while before I know.
-
I'm tired of seeing this "you won't get caught" type advice all over this site. Go outlaw mode at your own risk just like CBers (but at least have enough sense to not post about it).

i mean.. if you block out the .5w freqs from the ham and program the rest properly [chrip is good for that] no one will ever know.. honestly.. no one would even likely know if you step on the .5w stuff either unless they have....issues... *not legal advice, i am not a lawyer.

Convenient, but FCC says we can't have them transmit on the same radio. Of course you can break the rules if you want.

Make sure you join our weekly check-in net on every Wednesday at 8pm on the Brentwood Grasslands Repeater at 462.650. The tone is 123.0. Normal +5 offset.

The Crestline .575 repeater is the official "Radio TJ" non-english repeater in our area - it has a footprint roughly from north San Diego County east toward Landers and Joshua Tree Nation Park, well into Big Bear north east at least to Barstow, and northwest at least to Inyo County... and yah, there are some long-talkers on that repeater .. Look at the radios behind me in my videos.. They're all set to Ch 16 / .575.. in my newest video I dont think they turned off once.
-
if you use chirp you can turn of tx for channels.. but if youre just frequency hopping....true it will tx anytime you key up..
-
I do have both licenses. It would be nice to have it do both freq's

Have you tested talking simplex? If no problems there, you probably have a programing issues.. Can you break the squelch on the repeater?, you should hear that when you key up the repeater ch..
