You wouldn't happen to be in SoCal, would you? Oh wait, sorry, let me write it in a way you'd understand: You Wouldn't Happen To Be In SoCal, Would You? -

2.5mm or 3.5mm audio cables or adapters are readily available at many online retailers. -

I have a couple of Motorola DMR radios with several DMR repeated and simplex channels programmed and not one of the have any HAM channels programmed in them. One main reason why I don't is because I am not a licensed HAM and I don't care to be a HAM.

You can start by looking through the attached file. Amateur Radio Guide to DMR.pdf

What's the best way to learn DMR? This question from some holding a GMRS license only. Randy, you have a channel?

Sorry I missed this, but UncleYoda gave you the right answer. Every person should ID every 15 minutes and at the end of the conversation. Because you are all using the same ID a unit number or name is frequently also used. But to be honest most people just use their names and most people don’t care too much.

CONGRATS on getting your Tech license.

You can give them GMRS approved (certified) radios. (Not HAM radios.) yes (any of the pre-programmed channels) They will need to identify with your call sign (at the end of each conversation, and every 15 mins if longer than that). You can give each one an optional unit number or nickname to tell them apart but the official ID is still required.

Need help contacting a repeater with a Midland 115 mobile radio
WRUQ683 replied to WRUQ683's question in Technical Discussion
I know about the normal and inverted codes. But there is no option for that on the Midland radio. I opened a help ticket with Midland but of course it will be nexr week before anyone will get back to me. -

I took a drive around the block. No luck. I can easily Tx from the HT to the mobile on the repeater channel but not the other way round. I haven't touched the squelch but I'll look at that next. -

If God the FCC gave us 50 watt channels, I'm gonna use all 50 watts. Edit: Theoretically. All I have are a bunch of 5W handhelds. But I would if I could! -
What are some good frequencies to program.
TNFrank replied to TNFrank's topic in Amateur Radio (Ham)
I still need to get out and give it a try on some of the further repeaters. I really want to give it a try on simplex to see if I can TX/RX further. -

Make sure you do as @OffRoaderX suggests to prevent desense. Also, with DCS there’s both a normal and inverted codes. Make sure you use the right one. If it doesn’t have an I after the code it’s assumed N. Finally, I recommend leaving the receive squelch tone or code unprogrammed at first. That way you hear everything.
