  2. Sending it via DTMF works as well. It gets annoying when someone forgets to turn off side tones with it though. I don't notice much chatter on either of those repeaters. I have gotten a "loud and clear" response from someone on the 725 when I asked for a signal check from I-17 and Glendale Ave. Generally, the only time I hear a squawk from PTT-ID on Pinal is when someone forgets to turn off their side tones, as I mentioned above. Other than that, it doesn't sound any different than any other repeater. I have also noticed on Shaw and Tower 600 that there seems to be quite a bit of bickering and arguing between a couple people lately, and occasionally both repeaters get shut down for random periods of time. A couple of times, I ended up switching to another channel because I just didn't want to listen to the arguments.

  4. That’s the problem with responding to “Guests:” They have no skin in the game, and never have to come back to these posts, once they are registered members.
  5. Welcome to MYGMRS @WSBT251
  6. Oops! Thanks for reminding me. @WSBT251 welcome to GMRS!

  8. Welcome to myGMRS. We’re not all cranky all the time.
  9. And don't double post.
  10. Thank you I found the pahrump repeaters after I posted the question. Learning my way around the site.
  11. What are the improvements/corrections that the newest firmware offer that the older one does not provide. Have there been so many problems with the radio that it needs to be updated every few months? The radio will continue to work even with old firmware so unless there is a major flaw in the way it is working now, then I agree with gearjunkie; if it aint broke dont fix it!
  12. You dont without a VNA. If you have better TX audio thru it your probably fine. Being out of tune would casue issues on your radio before the duplexer. The proper way to verify tuning and damage with with a VNA
  13. Was just in Nashville last week and in Clarksville a couple nights and did not hear any chatter on any repeater frequency. Nashville 575 did pop in once but couldn't get back to it.
  14. That’s because I was responding to a Newbie, and you’re not a Newbie.
  15. Hello folks, I recently discovered that i had my Duplexer backwards... I had the receiver in low and the transmit on high. How do you know if it's damaged? This is the duplexer.. https://www.buytwowayradios.com/xlt-dp-gmrs-50.html?fee=5&fep=5322&utm_source=google_shopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=product_ppc&matchtype=&keyword=&device=c&adposition=&network=g&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqpSwBhClARIsADlZ_Tm3ht6u9wrpcsToPa1QJOD0QObAvnf9wSRa0YdlC52i4tnVNFwutGsaAlsxEALw_wcB
  16. I'm also kinda new at this, but seriously, you're a member of this site, look at the various mygmrs.com maps of your area.
  17. https://mygmrs.com/repeaters There are two in the Pahrump area:
  18. I’m new to GMRS. Does anyone know of any repeaters in the pahrump Nevada area? Thanks
  19. You need to submit your request to the repeater owner through mygmrs.com by clicking on the details button for that repeater on the map. The Tones for Pinal did not change. SWCRS activated the PT-T ID feature and issued every member their personal PT-T ID number in order to access the repeater. Your radio has to have the ability to send the ID using MDC1200 system feature for it to work.
  20. you used to be able to use Excel (the newest version) to pull the data from the web site.. But that is no longer working. I agree with you that the site owner should use the KMZ option to the his paid service.. He would easily increase his paid service subscriptions by doing so. I did offer to help him do this for no fees. Even offered to give him the template i built to get the data into KMZ/KML format, he never answered my message. The template i built would allow him to make KML/KMZ for all states. I hope the sample of data i sent will entice him to get this going. In the mean time another web site has reached out to me asking to help them build KMZ files for GMRS. I would rather help this site get it going but we'll see what happens.
  21. i have more experience and none of that makes any sense.
  22. Welcome to GMRS and this forum. Some of the other members on this forum, have levels of intelligence so great, that a newbie question literally makes their brains explode! Don’t take it personally or as an insult. Some still like to Elmer, to borrow an expression from Ham Radio, that is, who enjoy imparting knowledge to those newly arrived to GmRS, and are not frustrated by answering similar questions, many times over. it is surprising, that those with such great levels of intelligence, have still not figured out how to go on to the next topic, without having to give any response. Part of the problem is social media software, that grants points, awards and likes and Dislikes to those that just cannot filter their impulse to “spray” every possible comment with their “scent. Now, as to your question, many HTs label GMRS as Channels 1-30. The first 14 channels are on different frequencies However Channels 15-22, the high power channels of up to 50 watts) are also the same frequencies as Channels 23 through 30, respectively, which are then used in pairs to transmit to, and receive from repeaters. So yes, the repeater output on Channel 23, is the same as a simplex operator on Channel 15. But they may be licated so far from each other that they do not interfere with each other. But you may be located at a midpoint where you can hear them both. Also you may be hearing User-A on the output of a repeater on Channel 23 and then hear User-B’s output on the same repeater but you are hearing them on the same frequency, denominated as Channel 15. It will make more sense as you get more usage experience
  23. Were you westbound heading home when you were on top of Chiriaco? Maybe eastbound on top of Chiriaco would have worked better with the antenna facing towards the repeater.

one I know of that you may be able to hit is the spring mountain repeater on 700. It has a huge foot print of over 200mil radius. It’s near where the 160 goes through the mountains.

    Repeaters

Having trouble connecting to repeaters in pahrump nv anyone know any in my area?
  27. Unless you have the worlds worst antenna or are buried behind huge buildings or very dense wet woods 22 miles is nothing at all and should easily hit the repeater full quieting.
