  1. used alot of those maxrad mirror mounts on dump trucks over the years. As long as its assembled as the picture its waterproof. The bottom of the mount is open and if you remove the 2 screws from under the bracket that mount comes off and its wide open. We used to have to repair some that got water damaged after years on the vehicles. Alot of DOT/DPW vehicles ran those in the NE on trunk systems.

  3. So...if I dumb this all down, the FCC essentially said use your Part 90 gear, we don't care as long as you don't cause problems? Honestly, people using Part 90 gear are far less likely to cause problems than our Blister Pack friends.

    Retevis RT97 droping off.

I'll put my money on local desense from being in the same room/proximity.

    Retevis RT97 droping off.

how do you know you are dropping ? Are you trying to listen to a radio with another radio or someone in another area. You could be causing decense if your trying with 2 radios in the same vehicle or room. If your in a fringe area this will happen more than if your on top of the repeater.

  7. If you look for the international version of CE you will be allowed to open up to wideband.

    Midland MXT500

According to the link, the FCC grant is for wideband 16K0F3E. Kudos to Midland if they finally took heed that GMRS is a wideband service. I might buy one of these for the wife's vehicle. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk

  9. That's a pretty nice haul. I got a few things, nothing huge, but I don't mind.

    VERTEX/STANDARD VX-2200

I have that same wideband programming issue on my Vertex VXR-7000 ... Set the clock on your computer back to 1980 as @wayovertherementioned and it will let you change it.

    VERTEX/STANDARD VX-2200

I still have to check what cps versions I have ? some of them you can fool into letting you have wideband by shutting off automatic time updates, and then setting the system date back to like...2005, though not so much for the evx539.

    Welcome!

Hi everyone another NOOB here LOL! Got my GMRS license back in March but have held off getting active till my antenna was complete, (the radio God's have spoken and it is not operational woohoo)! I'm in beautiful serene Edgar Florida where i can hear the frawgs fart LOL! I'm operating on a custom engineered ROHN fold down tower (my lower guy line stainless aircraft cable should arrive this week to finish up the tower) on a Diamond dual band antenna topped out at 65', (I've spent the past 3 months installing the tower and the concrete alone bout killed me). I'll be doing some upgrades to my hoisting methodology in the coming months as it's just too hard for this retired/disabled 60 yr old man to be fighting with, (a mighty mule 4K pound hand crank winch at present). Guy wires are isolated/8' ground rods driven at the base of the tower as well as each guy wire/line anchor (where 660 pounds of concrete are poured for each anchor). I'm getting little traffic on my little Baofeng UV9R HT for now, (plans on upgrading the radio to a little higher wattage in the coming months AFTER I get a tuner to see what's going on here). I'll try to slow down and get a better pic of the tower in the coming days as it was pouring down rain when I raised it, (and even the upper guy wires hadn't been isolated or put onto the turnbuckles yet in this pic). Thanks for leaving the door open for me and hope I don't have too many questions for ya'll!

    Vehicle install

Well, everything is here except the antenna from antenna farm. And I'm going to wait for that to show up before I go hog a hole out in the roof of the truck. Impatience leads to sloppy installs. That said, I seriously can't say enough good things about the antenna farm. I ordered while working overnight using my work computer, so the companies IP address (which shows as somewhere in VA). And while driving home after getting off shift at 7:30am, I received a phone call from them. He was concerned about the IP being from VA, but the shipping being out to AZ, and wanted to make sure there wasn't fraud. I explained that's work's IP, and everything is good. What a pleasant surprise. I'll be ordering everything from him from now on to be sure.
