Imagine living a life where you get so angry and butthurt over videos that nobody forces you to watch, that you then go around complaining and making up stories every chance you can..
We should all pray for sad people like this.

"good" is entirely subjective and depends on what "good" means to you, so you're only going to get a bunch of people telling you what THEY have/what THEY think is good for them.
So I'll start: In both my Jeeps I have Motorola XTL5000s.. To me they are good, so I i highly recommend one.

Thank you for all of the input.
The main reason for my original question was to verify that Roger Beeps are not the new EMP in the radio world. I understand and respect that some like it and others hate it, but thankfully it’s still a free Country that we can still make our own choices.
I personally don’t care if I use the Roger Beep or not on this persons repeater. It just so happened that the particular radio that I was using for my very first interaction on GMRS had the Roger Beep enabled. I don’t mind turning it off. I just don’t like someone, who by the way is just another user not the owner of the repeater, feeding me a line of B.S. for the sake of getting me to disable it.  If I wanted to be manipulated by people spoon feeding me crap I’d get into politics.
I will say that after listening to repeater traffic for the past few weeks that I somewhat like the Roger Beep for the sake of knowing when the transmission is complete. There are a few people that keep their radio keyed while they’re thinking and many times when that happens several other people try to key up.
I am in the process of getting my own repeater up and running due to the fact that there are none in my immediate area. (The repeater that I currently access is just barely in range.) And when I do set it up I’m going to use my Roger Beep. I’m looking forward to the first person telling me that I need to shut it off so as not to ruin the repeater. And as far as gay truck drivers looking to meet up because of my Roger Beep……. Well, thats why we have German Shepherds.
I will provide public access to my repeater because I’m generally a nice guy.  If people boycott my repeater because I use a Roger Beep; I really don’t care. The main reason for my repeater is for family communication.

A used Motorola XTS5000 Model 1 would be a great option for your requirements, but be aware that it is not FCC Part 95 Type Accepted.. Not that the FCC will care, but "some people" here on the forum will stroke-out if they know you are using it on GMRS.

Not through a regular/analog repeater. You would need something like a P25 capable digital repeater.
(based on the times my group has tried/tested)

I am aware that it is not legal to use encryption on GMRS. I’m just curious about the different licensing out there. I never felt misled by the video.

Yes. Kemp does Motorola repair. To be more specific; they only repair brands that they rep, and Motorola is their main brand if you go to their webpage.

I’m currently reading this book. It sticks with code, but refers to many other things/ concerns as well.
It stresses that you also need to comply with your local building code. Especially since you’re mounting this on someone else’s building. For insurance purposes along with public and fire safety, you need to do everything possible to protect yourself from liability.

    Wow….
I have some friends with absolute opposite political views than mine. We at times wear shirts that represent our thoughts. We sometimes have civil conversations on why one represents such beliefs. Sometimes we sway, other times we agree to disagree.  But when its all done and over, we all recognize that fact that we still live in a country where we are still allowed to voice our opinions without punishment. The day we stop respecting this is the day that we lose our freedom. There will be only one way. Actually two ways; life of compliance, or death from punishment.
I’m not trying to stir the pot here, but, wow……. All this over a signature?

Further more; this doesn’t sit well with me that a person was bullied into removing their signature.
If you don’t like something, don’t look at it.
This past presidential election we had people in my neighborhood with yard signs for the candidate that they were supporting. Some were opposite of my beliefs, but I will defend that person’s right to vote for who they choose. If I ever catch someone vandalizing one of those signs, even if opposite my beliefs, I would put my foot right up their ass.

I wanted to stay out of this, but it's bugging me too much. LOL

@Wrvq441 not attacking you... just my opinion... I interpret this as this whole thing 'originally' had nothing to do with politics (per se) and more about @Sab02r tried to make a political statement with his signature (which in and of it self was not so much the problem) and was obviously confusing Socialism with Communism.
Socialism aims for gradual transition to a socialist society through democratic means, whereas Communism aims for a revolution to instantly establish a communist society.  Socialism is a form of democracy, verses Communism is usually born out of war, driven by extreme Socialists desire to leverage Socialism to lift themselves (or their group) into a tyrannical positional of power, of which the only way liberation is found is either by war or total collapse of the nation-state.
    And THAT was the point.

Not my forum, but I say have all the political conversation you want, if you can be civil.  Politics does play into this radio service, just like everything else in our lives. understanding people's opinions and where they stand on certain ideologies can help guide a conversation. Just be sure you have an accurate understanding of what you are talking about and don't get but-hurt when someone corrects you for it if you don't.  It's part of being an adult.  JMHO

So yes, I turned the computer clock back to 2005 and initiated the software. It allowed me to switch it over to wideband.

Back in the early 80’s, I worked EMS in a small town. Our ambulance had a radio that was called “Pack-Rat”. We had the regular two way that was installed in the rig, and a handheld docked next to it. When you undocked the handheld it would use the rig radio as a repeater. So even when sub terrain, as long as the rig was on that property it would repeat all trans and rec to the handheld. It was awesome. Until the FCC banned it. Unfortunately I don’t recall the reasoning behind it, but we ended up with a crappy radio in the rig with no pack rat after.
