    The "request access" button is always there. In general, when it says "open" you do not need permission to use the repeater. I have seen at least one repeater (can't remember which one) where it was open but the owner stated that he only wanted people he knew personally using it. It's always best to read the description to make sure.

    Do a search on the forums for Broadnet. Maybe even a Google search. Seems like I saw some complaints like your a few months ago. If I recall, they suddenly changed a bunch of stuff and some users did not know anything about it. My memory isn't as sharp as it used to be.

    Yep, I understand innovation, invention, and generally trying new things but industry standards are also very important. It's unfortunate that there still is not an industry standard for digital radio and especially GPS.

    You need to understand how tones work. When a radio or in this case the repeater has an input tone, it will squelch out any signal that does not have that tone. So, the repeater will ignore you unless your signal has that tone. When the repeater sends out a signal with a tone, you can still hear it when you use no tone at all. But you also hear all other signals. To squelch out all the other signals and just hear the repeater, use the repeaters output tone.

    Joining a club will not make the tones show up on myGMRS.com. You need to get the tones from the club or repeater owner.

    We have to keep in mind that the primary purpose of GMRS is for families and other small groups. Using repeaters is just a bonus. For everything else, HAM is the way to go.

    I'm pretty sure distance would still be typical UHF distance.

    I totally agree. If we the people don't take personal responsibility, the government will step in even more and then it won't be fun anymore.

    Many radios have a "Stun" and a "Kill" feature. Sounds like it may be in the "Stunned" state. @Lscott is a Kenwood man, maybe he can shed some light on this.

    My first thought was perhaps a radius/diameter issue. But after looking closer, it looks like maybe a typo 15/25. Outside that, I have no clue. BTW, thanks for making this repeater available. I don't go through that area much but it's nice to know it there when I do.

    @Lscott and @gortex2, maybe I'm missing something but wouldn't proper use of tones alleviate the problem of multiple repeaters in the same area on the same frequency?

    @WSAQ843 Welcome to myGMRS.com. As you can see, discussions can get heated at time but you'll find that it is mostly peaceful and a great community. I'm also in Texas and hope to hear you on the air either on GMRS or ham.

    If it weren't for CCRs, I couldn't afford to get on the air. You see that Kenwood key fob/bottle opener in my signature? That's the only thing with Kenwood written on it I can afford.

    No, obviously they don't. My point is, don't draw attention to yourself if you are operating on GMRS with non-GMRS radios.
