  1. A web search for that unit shows this pinout, if you want/have to make your own cable. PIN: 1: PTT 2: N/C 3: MIC– 4: SENS 5: N/C 6: MIC+ 7: MONITOR 8: GND But note that further in the discussion it also says: Q: "I was wondering if anyone has tried interfacing this mic to a standard Motorola mobile radio." A: "won't work.. will sound dull because that mic is a 200 ohm microphone.."
  2. Looking at a chart of Amateur Band frequencies, and see the names/types of devices permitted to use in various ranges, such as RTTY, Data, Phone, Image, SSB Phone, etc. All nicely color-coded and very informative, except for something that's probably so basic they didn't include it. I know CW is a Morse key device/output (I think), but what "type" are our little hand-held GMRS/UHF/VHF radios? I can't seem to find a definitive answer, though I'm unsure of a good search term. Thanks in advance.
  3. "Then the next question will revolve around external antenna and their height above the ground." ...must....resist... siren... songs.....
  4. Thanks, looks like its owner hasn't been here for some time though. I have an access request in, as do others, but no replies. The main problem is that where I live is a "signal well", on the SE side of Summit Hill, just East of I-35E. We never got decent analog or digital TV reception in this area because Summit Hill sat squarely between us and most of the TV transmitters locally. Assuming the map is accurate, the repeater is on the U of M campus right alongside those old transmitters. >.< No matter, if I get mobile and "up the hill" I have no doubt I'll connect.
  5. Thanks for the quick reply and the tip about Rx tone!
  6. New GMRS user/licensee and just got two BTech GMRS V2 radios. Have read a LOT the last couple days, and want to be sure I've understood the use of repeaters before committing a comms faux pas, so let me see if I have this straight... These radios are factory pre-programmed for offset on the repeater channels. And using, as example, the values for the Metro 4 repeater here in St. Paul: I'd set both radios to "REPT19" (transmitting at 467.650 / receiving on 462.650). Then set T-CTCS and R-CTCS on both radios to 141.3 Hz. Is the above correct? Thanks in advance.
