  1. You may have just ostracized yourself. Good luck bro.
  2. I/we started my/our GMRS adventure with non-GMRS compliant Baofengs. They exceeded my/our expectations and needs for my group/family and are still very happy with them. I got by, programming them within proper parameters, albeit non-part 95 compliant. It was/is all good. But...for 20 bucks or so per boofweng radio, I saw an online pop-up for a WOUXUN. "wow...Wouxun @ $150.00? FOR 1!!! WTF? So I got one. ONE! KG935+...it works...well! Geez it works. I don't have enough of a collection of HTs to say 'THIS IS THE ONE", but life is simpler, noise is gone, reception is...well...I think I hear Carl Sagan once in awhile. No need to preserve Windows versions or your Commodore 64 and not much else to do for everyday use. For me, it was well worth the cost to give it a go, and if I didn't need luxuries like a house and food, I would replace all of my/our Baofengs with KG935+ But that's just my inexperienced opinion...hope it helps tho
  3. Too advanced for me. I'LL STICK WITH GMRS. Oh...this IS GMRS forum Damn I feel so damn stupid
  4. With that said... we're done with this thread on my end.
  5. Nah...I get it. I was just sharing that I use this site as a tool to learn...and have fun when appropriate. Perhaps when I gain more knowledge I too can chirp
  6. I'm sorry to be the fall out guy. I'm here to learn about GMRS, and perhaps someday, contribute to GMRS or GMRS related hooligans. Clearly, this thread has taken a turn AWAY from GMRS. . . . just sayin. No offense intended.
  7. Um. For a second I thought you were talking about my mind.
  8. Could you tuck it between the seat and center console?
  9. Aloha from Hawaii @WSCE937
  10. I have had the same issue. I allowed it to run. Yes it appeared totally sketchy to me as well, but I believe I chose "rock". Yes I was as skeptical as you, and ran it on a standby laptop and everything went fine with no other issues. Vince WRZK593
  11. I would steer clear and not even try it, knowing that you can return it to Amazon. I didn't look at the radio you mentioned at all. I just went straight to the reviews. Of note: (1) Every review was on the plus side. (b) Only one review was from a licensed HAM operator. (iii) EVERY REVIEWER RECEIVED THE PRODUCT FOR FREE, IN RETURN FOR THEIR "REVIEW". But, if you're still looking at it, they have a "9 Watt" GMRS HT.... Again, all reviews are from Amazons Vine Free Product Review incentive. MOHANTON UHG-01 Versatile GMRS Two Way Radio,Heavy Duty Walkie Talkie with 9W High Power and 5 Miles Line of Sight Walkie Talkie.(2-Packs) https://a.co/d/1anpf1Z Good luck. I'm new to all of this radio stuff too. But I'm old in mind and body
  12. I'm a little sketchy on your post.... Show "us" ?
  13. I want to contribute to this thread, but I have nothing. No experience. No longevity. And no reason to speak about anything I know nothing of. HOWEVER, There ARE GMRS/HAM operators here in Hawaii that could contribute. We're in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and are important in relay/global communications. I personally KNOW NOTHING. BUT... I would like to challenge all of the HAMS in Hawaii to expand their networks and show more interest in GMRS
  14. Oh. Sorry. I meant ohm my
  15. Ohhhh now I understand the deceptive level of effort involved! I did go back to ensure that I didn't claim someone else's repeater, and fortunately, I had enough functioning brain cells (at the time) to Star them as my faves. Here in Hawaii, there are VERY few GMRS repeaters, so it's definitely in my best interest to respect, and help the respective owners. I'm glad I came across this thread. Vince-WRZK593
