  1. Had the day to myself and no tasks to accomplish, so I was browsing through the NIFOG (National Interoperability Field Operations Guide) and programming a radio with the stuff that might be interesting to listen to or have in an emergency to try to get info. Anyway, as I am programming these in, I just noticed how some of those have some truly weird offsets. We know that GMRS usually uses a +5.0 for repeaters, and on HAM its got its usual, so it was just interesting to see a -4.6725, and +0.735 among others. Im sure there was a reason for those offset values, but I did find it interesting.

    GRMS Needed?

Kinda the feeling I had from the start.
  3. Aww, I was hoping to get a juicy story on how the fcc kicked in their door, shot their dog, and confiscated their kids Spongebob Squarepants walkie talkies. It happens all the time, according to the internet, so it must be true..
  4. I just remember that for a time, at least once a week, a VW with a magnesium block would overheat and catch fire on the DC beltway destroying traffic.
  5. Welcome!
  6. 9 year old post you replied to, just FYI
  7. it is the exact same case as the UV-5R, so if you like that size / form factor, your good to go.
  8. Thanks for all the insight and great ideas all of you. Its given me a good list of radios to compare and contrast for what i am looking for and research for a bit.
  9. I like the Bunny exhibit there.
  10. Pretty much what it says in the title. I have a robust SW, MW with Upper and Lower side bands receiver, but looking into the radio side of TXing there. I know this is a GMRS centric Forum, as why I just plopped it down in the Misc. area, but I suspect some of you out there might have something to offer in this area for someone looking to expand into that spectrum as well.
  11. Yes you do have to do every one. I know its a chore to actually have to click the topic, and in this case, click one more button and scroll, but everyone else who participates here manages that extra button without over exerting themselves as far as I know.
  12. No, the forum is like that for everyone, where your at right there in your screenshot. When you open one of the topics then you can choose by date.
  13. A reply above did make sense. See this on the first post of the thread when you open the topic: That is how you do it.
  14. It has to demand to see the manager
  15. Some radios are "open" to program in what you want frequency wise as long as the hardware is capable. Others can be modded, jailbroken, or other tricks to get them to work.
  16. Kudos to you for managing to navigate that dumpster fire of a website to get that data. Do you have to sacrifice a small child every time to get it to work?
  17. It takes a few days for new licenses to show up in the DB. When was yours granted?
  18. Welcome!
  19. Im trying to understand how your computer is affecting your radio. I have an original working 1984 Macintosh in my garage, and it has never screwed with my radios.
  20. With some of the comments he gets on U Toob, I am sure he does it enough to have the strongest eyes on the West Coast.
  21. Just curious why some of the clubs listed do not have a join button. I see my club on the list however.
  22. Request is asking for permission on a repeater. Go to just repeaters in the CP, then the Owned tab, then you add it. This is your OWN repeater your listing right?
  23. Yeah, in CHIRP if the up/down tone is the same it will be TSQL. If you choose TSQL, it should then ask for the up tone, select, it will then ask for the down tone, select and you are set.
  24. You can copy memories like your channels, but the radio specific settings will not, as they are like radio specific firmware.
  25. Try to do a download with the 5RH selection. Chances are if it does it clean/no errors, it will be fine to upload with that setting. And save / lock that file! Its like your backup of the factory settings.
