  1. You just have to know where to look. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. Really? Wow. I’m a member of the North Georgia GMRS network, the largest linked GMRS network in the country, AND they use Zello. AND they’ve been operating this way for years. And if it were illegal I’m sure the FCC would have already done something about it. nggmrs.org Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I have two identical TID H8 radios (even though the title is H3) and I have one set up specifically for HAM and one specifically for GMRS. Yes, I could use one for both but I just prefer to keep them separate. They are great radios and don’t let the haters discourage you. They work just fine and the price point is great. And I do have an H3 but rarely use it as it’s just too small. [emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. The 2730 will be my next mobile unit. I’ll use the 9800 as a base unit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Yes I did. Seems like I used the TYT software to read from the radio. Once I did that, Chirp worked without issue. Who knows. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. If you’re going to get a lot of “I told you so”, the they don’t sound like “buddies” to me. I bought my 9800 knowing it was a cheap Chineseium radio that may or may not last long and that I knew I would upgrade in the future. But I bought it to “get my feet wet” in the world of mobile amateur radio. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Unfortunately this is only going to get worse. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. A simple ground wire from the radio chassis to the vehicle ground may resolve that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Is it the heat sink fan running? That fan runs anytime the PTT button is pressed and does make a “clicking” sound. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Do you have a speaker mic you can try? Might be able to isolate where the issue is. Or just wipe it and send it back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I’m using the Diamond brand lip mount on the top of my rear CRV door. Been working great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I bought a TYT TH-9800D Plus back in August to put in my car. It was my first one and I just wanted an inexpensive mobile unit to "get my feet wet" until such time I'd upgrade. Chirp has worked great up until a few weeks ago and now I'm getting these error messages. Same radio, same programming cable, same laptop (Toshiba Dynabook, Windows 11). The only difference, as far as I know, is a newer version of Chirp. But even going back and trying an older version of Chirp, I still get the same message. This also appears to only be an issue with Chirp as the TYT and RT Systems software works fine. I just wanted to toss this out there in case anyone else has seen it and found a solution.
  15. I did go back and add the spring as there are some low hanging branches in our neighborhood, but too the pic before adding the spring. Let me see if I can find one. EDIT - went outside and took a couple with spring. Very stable at highway speeds. EDIT 2 - Yes, I know it's a 2M/70CM antenna, but it does work great on GMRS.
