  1. I can certainly understand that. Wasn’t necessarily questioning the policy - was questioning whether it was developed in conjunction with local law enforcement. There are still districts that want no LE involvement. Appreciate the article - hadn’t seen that one. Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.u
  2. How do the first responders feel about your cell phone policies? Curious since guidelines from Homeland Security and FBI for Active Shooter situations urge calling 911 if it is safe to do so and reporting locations, or, if you cannot speak (or don’t feel it’s safe to do so) to just leave the line open. You have effectively removed your students ability to reach out in an emergency situation. Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
  3. Hey, it’s far more relevant than a lot of the conversations on a radio forum….. Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
  4. Obtaining your tech from the enemy you vowed to destroy isn’t very smart….. just sayin’ “The walkie-talkies were booby-trapped in advance by Israeli intelligence services and then delivered to Hezbollah as part of the militia's emergency communications system“ https://www.axios.com/2024/09/18/israel-detonates-hezbollah-walkie-talkies-second-wave-after-pager-attack Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
  5. Don’t need no stinking Roger Beeps! Just be a TRUE RADIO DORK and end all yer transmits with “Over”! [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787] Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
  6. Methinks there’s a number of folks on here that need to heed my sig line…. [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787] Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
  7. I’ll never say never but I will say radios are WAY behind at this point….[emoji1787][emoji1787] Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
  8. Larsen makes a variety of capacitive coupled glass Mount antennas - including one covering the GMRS frequency range (in addition to dual & tri-band models). Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
  9. Maybe look at making your own j-pole and attaching it to the existing antenna?? Saw an article a while back where some guy made one out of 14 gauge wire — maybe just use heat shrink tubing to attach to big antenna? Not quite historically accurate but close enough? Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
  10. It will all depend upon what you are expecting…. Only thing I’m looking for is comms between me and FOPs, and perhaps between me and neighbors in my MAG. All are within simplex GMRS range (except a couple who would be reachable with a single simplex relay). Longer range comms would be monitored but nothing really expected from it…. Living in the boonies has its benefits! Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
  11. It’s not necessarily restrictions on the radio but rather on the software to program the radio. FPP bypasses all that. Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
  12. Kind of sort of…. There are workarounds. CHIRP defaults all the channels above (below in your terms) the presets to repeater channels up to about 54 (above that they are receive only channels). With ODMaster you can get normal channels in after the preset ones and they WILL work correctly. Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
  13. At the start of my EE degree many decades ago I went with the relatively new HP-25C — highly recommended (at the time) for its reverse Polish notation and programming capabilities…. Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
  14. Definitely have a bad radio - no transmit on repeater channels, other channels work fine. Appears to be a common problem with the H-3….. Amazon taking care of things! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
