They didnt have the 2-radio deal when I got mine, but at the time the price for the repeaters was the same on Amazon as on their website, just without the crazy shipping.

According to the FCC, if you are using a GMRS radio, thou must use your callsign on all channels, regardless of the power-output you have set. The question is, will they care if you dont.. and according to the FCC's enforcement database, they don't.

Short answer to your question: No/Probably not Longer answer: You can use repeaters on GMRS but their range is usually limited to around 100 miles or so and any mountains between the repeater and either of the two people talking would block the signal completely.. So IF there is a repeater between you that you can both "see" and connect to with your radios, then, maybe.

Try removing all tones from both radios, then try again and make sure you're at least 10 feet apart, and report back.

Yes, on both my older Intel iMac and my new M1 Silicone iMac. For an M1 you have to do a little tinkering, but it works.

Its not an 'option' per-se, (IIRC I'm on my Mac so I can't remember exactly) - You have to right-click on the program icon and select that option from the menu - you have to do it for the install program, then again for the program after you install it.

CHRIP is better in every way so hopefully that will work - but curious if you tried to both install the DB25G software and run it "As Administrator" ?

They are the same.. Try removing the Decode tone to see if that helps, unless you are absolutely certain that the repeater uses the same decode and encode tones. It is also possible that you are simply out of range of the repeater - EVEN if you can hear it, that does not necessarily mean that you can hit it. Try going outside or driving closer if necessary.

One of the members of our group recently was successful in having his city put up an open GMRS repeater intended primarily for emergency use, but also available the rest of the time. He is now trying to expand to other local cities but is facing much resistance and typical bureaucracy and red-tape of getting the city government to approve everything.

Maybe if you tell us what kind of radio you have, and what exactly you mean by "work with", we can help..

I will let @marcspazpost his results.. @WROZ250 I will concede that with my IP address IF someone successfully hacks into my ISP and IF my dynamic IP has not changed between the time the hack occurred and when someone is reviewing the info, then yes, it is possible to get someone's information.. The chances of that happening in reality for someone targeting you is slim, and there are much easier ways to get info on people. Pretty sure I didnt use the word bullshit - i was just pointing out that the words you posted for us to all read, were incorrect, or at a minimum, way, oversimplified, as stated.
