Wouxun KG-UV9G WARNING! - Belt clip screws are TOO LONG!
MozartMan replied to MozartMan's topic in Equipment Reviews
Thank you. -
So, I received my Wouxun KG-UV9G LITE today. It is very nice radio. I decided to mount belt clip. Screw went in half of the length and stopped. I decided to take bigger screw driver and to force screw in. And screw snapped. And half of the screw is now inside the hole. And if you look at attached picture you will see that left screw is all the way in and how long it is. Does anybody have suggestion how to take broken piece of the screw out? TIA

Another option is to disable all COM ports in the BIOS of your computer motherboard. This way, when you plug in your programming cable, you will have only one COM port to choose from. This was my case. And disabling all COM ports in the BIOS should not be a problem because I don't think you can find computer peripherals in this age of technology that use serial ports.

Can the Woxsun KG-905G be configured for mobile operations in a car?
MozartMan replied to ELVAQUERO75's question in Technical Discussion
Are you sure about that? I have 905G and don't see how I can use dual PTT. -
With the new forum software all section are set up the same way except Technical Discussion section. First difference is that every section of the forum has big blue button that says: "Start new topic". Technical Discussion section has big blue button that says: "Ask a question". Second difference is that in every section of the forum I can click on the date in the column on the right side of the page and jump to the latest post in the thread. Not so in Technical Discussion section where two columns on the right are votes and answers and they are not clickable. And because of this it is not very convenient to navigate Technical Discussion section. I am just curious why Technical Discussion section was set up differently than all other section? I attached two screenshots of General Discussion and Technical Discussion sections.

As far as I know GMRS20 (462.67500) is considered "unofficial" travel cannel.

Advantage of split codes on GMRS repeaters

Cheap Chinese Radios. -
I have BTECH GMRS-V1 and used CHIRP to program it. I was able to save one weather station for my region - WX1PA7 - into memory channel 101.
-
Mr. Pink, How/when did you get it? Bettersaferadio website still shows "Pre-Sale" status. https://bettersaferadio.com/wouxun-kg-uv9g-pro-gmrs-two-way-radio-shtf-scanner/
-
I don't have problems with KG-805G software from BTWR website. But I don't use any AV software, just built-in Windows 10 Security Center.

This mac guy needs help with CHIRP working on old WinXP

Jack, I will try to help you in an hour or two (if nobody else helps you by that time). You should already have my email from previous PM conversations. -
Just ordered one.

The reason I asked is I saw on one website talking about this "SHTF emergency" channel and they said to use that tone. But, if I understand you correctly, I should not put the tone for this channel at all, or at least not for RX. Is this correct?
-
Do you use 141.3 tone on that "unofficial GMRS emergency/travel channel"?
-
That bold part in your post is on my shopping/wish list.

Here is screenshots for 905G software.

Here are screenshots for 805 Software.
-
Jack, First, similar thing is that both software have three screens. But it looks like there is a difference. 905 software have channels named kinda strange way, like this: G1-1 ------ G1-16 G2-1 ------- G2-16 and so on. The last channel is G16-16. Multiplying 16x16 and it looks like we get 256 memory channels. I will attach screenshots after I reduce file sizes of JPEG images. Had to upload images to the hosting website because could not reduce file sizes to under 80KB.

In my case eliminator is just laying down on the front passenger seat plugged into 12V cigarette lighter and stays in the car all the time. And it is very easy to unclip it and put battery back on when going back home. Sweet indeed. I also have Tram antenna with mag mount that I put on top of the trunk when I drive (it sits in the trunk when I don't drive) and mag mount cable runs into the trunk and then through small door in the back passenger seats to the front passenger seat. And it only takes 20 seconds to remove rubber duck antenna and screw cable connector to the radio. With this setup I don't have to drill any wholes in my car.

Or, if you in the car driving, you can buy and use this: Wouxun Battery Eliminator for KG-UVD1P / KG-805G / KG-805M https://www.buytwowayradios.com/wouxun-elo-001.html I got it and will try today.

That's design flaw. Nothing you, or I can do.

Thanks.
