OH, New Jersey... My apologies! ?
-
I do! It was a simple misunderstanding based upon two different legitimate uses of the word "whole." You thought I was using it as an adjective, meaning: "all of" or "entire." I was actually using it as an adverb, meaning: "used to emphasize the novelty or distinctiveness of something;" as in: There is a "WHOLE political class" that is virtually ALL of the Republicans support reducing taxes on the wealthy and the ultra-wealthy. It is certainly not an issue supported by Democrats in general, nor is it an issue that is divided among the Republicans. So a whole political class, the Republicans, supports it. I apologize for the misunderstanding. When did I put words in your mouth in the past?

You do not mention any information about the repeater (location, frequency) but is it listed here on myGMRS? Take a drive much closer to it and try to hit the repeater then. And if you have an extra HT, have a family member monitor the repeater while you drive out to hit it.
-
Welcome! There are NO dumb questions; only dumb answers! I do not have that radio, but my best guess it is a typo!
-
I try to avoid "that" repeater, but it is somewhat like a dumpster fire: it attracts your attention! But after a few minutes of the filth and hate that pours out of their mouths, I realize that it is better to corral all of them into just one repeater, and spare the rest of us their indignities. That is why I am saddened by the current interference war; some of them have moved to the other available repeaters. I had to program an obscure digital DCS tone into my 10 year old grandson's HT for that channel, so as to keep him from accidentally hearing their chatter...

Or on porpoise? ? Which national political party is known for its relentless cutting of taxes on the wealthy and ultra-wealthy? You agreed with me before when I referred to the Republicans as a "whole political class." That leaves the rest of us, including retirees, to pay higher taxes to make up the difference.

New model Baofeng appears to be a great improvement
MichaelLAX replied to jc1240's topic in Amateur Radio (Ham)
1) They are informed enough that they will get the opportunity to defend ALL of their actions before a jury of their peers; one of the birthrights that they themselves hope to take away from you, me and all of US (like the right to have a peaceful transition of power to the persons who won their elections)! 2) Last time I checked @Lscottand I did not claim: It is the China Virus The election was stolen It's not funny; it's TRAGIC! -
Wouxun KG-1000G tips and tricks thread

When your Wouxun KG-1000G is defective, it will be supported by CHIRP, too! ? -
New model Baofeng appears to be a great improvement
MichaelLAX replied to jc1240's topic in Amateur Radio (Ham)
Nailed it! The Irony could only be greater if it turns out Baofeng's manufacturing plant was in Wuhan! ? -
Not sure that Ham status has anything to do with it, but one appears to be a life-long professional broadcasting engineer (whose GMRS license appears to have expired years ago) and the other appears to be avoiding a $24,000 fine assessment from the FCC and perhaps even prosecution by other law-enforcement agencies!

Can’t get any clearer than that! ?

But does he do "house calls?!?" ?

In the summer of 2002, I took a 6 week drive of the 8 Western States. I promised myself, if I did not rent a motel room during the trip (either stay with family or camp out), I could buy a brand new-fangled Sirius Satellite Receiver (just going "hot" on the West Coast in one week and preferred by me at that time over XM, because they carried Public Broadcasting [PBS]). I brought my Mac Powerbook, my Nokia cellphone, a serial cable to connect the two, an Olympus digital camera with USB cable, an 18" DirecTV dish with collapsable PVC stand, a DirecTV receiver, a video to USB converter so I could watch DirecTV on my Powerbook and of course my Kenwood TH-22at. (You can take the Boy out of the City, but you can't take the City out of the Boy!) I would "blog" to family and friends about the trip every night by sending out an email with photos attached. One series of ongoing emails bemoaned the fact that the enormous Redwoods of Northern coastal California would impede my ability to receive Sirius satellite radio broadcasts and that I needed to pickup a chainsaw to improve reception. My sister-in-law with no sense of humor, consistently criticized my insensitivity to the Redwoods! ? Here I am watching the Dodgers vs. Cubs at the Chief Timothy State Park in Idaho, next to the Snake River. I would invite the nearest camper to come watch the game and they would always bring an extra brew and even invite me for their campout dinner:

Memorandum of Understanding?!? So you are suggesting that in an emergency and you are not a "tech" (whatever that means) and do not have access to HF, you cannot transmit your emergency communication? Rather than take a shot at Hams and public safety, please tell us what are you suggesting the OP do? (and not just pick up a phone during an emergency!)

OMG: No wonder Omicron is spreading so quickly!!! ?

When I am wrong, I will admit I am wrong: I was unaware that the OPENGD77 Firmware WILL work in the BF-1801, a model I have no experience with nor, before pointed out by you, any knowledge of either! ?. Please give me a link where they can be purchased for $30; as all I find are around $70. I am sorry to hear you dislike the GD-77, but after all you hate all CCR's so it is to be expected. I see no point in buying Motorola for DMR; at least not at this stage of my usage: I found this review from June 2020 comparing the GD-77 to the BF-1801:

Great news on your success with DMR from your locale! Any port in an DMR storm! ? I find the sound quality out of my RD-5R better than average, but not great: just good. I am told that DMR in general lacks the quality found in P-25, but I have no experience with P-25 and I do not want to invest in going down that road. I can sit on my easy chair with guests over, and go to WorldWide 91 and ask for a "demonstration" and Hams from all over the world will check in with their location and call signs and WoW my guests. And I am always amazed at what information I can glean from consistent communication to anywhere in the world: For example, I saw my green light light up one day in DMR mode and turned on my Promiscous Mode and heard in Romanian a local Ham who had just landed at LAX from Romania and was talking on a Romanian TalkGroup. I broke in, in English, and introduced myself, saying that my father's grandparents were from Romania and I had always been looking for a Romanian restaurant in the greater Los Angeles area. He turned me on to Parsnip in Highland Park and I subsequently went there and bought a huge amount of take out to bring to a party at my Nephew's families house that is also in Highland Park. YUM!

[deleted by poster, as proven incorrect by the G-Man!]

Apparently, the actual GD-77, which costs a little bit more, with the OpenFirmware can be also converted into a "hotspot" while that will not work with my RD-5R

Data Read issue with Wouxun KE-1000G
MichaelLAX replied to mhauss's question in Technical Discussion
Thank you; Thank you; Thank you! I've been waiting since 2002 for someone of your stature to reclaim and come up with a much more legitimate use of that word! ? -
In this Forum for the OpenGD77/RD-5R Firmware Project, searching for the word "brick" only brings up two theoretical posts.
