    What mount did you use? I was looking at some at DX Engineering & HRO. I want to make sure it clears my metal roof yet be strong enough for our high winds in the mountain. Thanks, Kerwin WROV316

    North Georgia GMRS use Tac numbers after their call signs. That's the way they "prove" they are paid members.

    Sorry for the late post. In my case it totally freezes up, no transmission at all. BTW, I had previously programmed the radio before the unlock. YMMV.

    The red light issue is a known for the locked units. There isn't a fix. The easiest thing is to immediately turn the radio off & back on & it's no longer frozen. I have these radios to hand out for a SHTF time. Ideal solution, no. Practical, yes.

    I don't use the lanyards for my radios. I do however put them on my wifes radios & the ones I plan to hand out for SHTF. Hypothetically of course.

    Negative. I live in the mountains & can use these repeaters when visiting family.

    I've gotten permission from the NGA GMRS group for both Cades Cove & Blue Ridge, GA repeaters when traveling. When I put up base station antenna & if I can hit their repeater system I will join.

    I purchased the Prepper Package from BTWR. Love the radios. They are my favorite GMRS ht's. My wife doesn't have a ham ticket so it's a compromise for her.

    I had this issue 2 versions ago. Go directly to the web site & load the current version. Tha should eliminate the problem.

    First was a Baofeng UV-5rtp Second & my favorite for GMRS is Wouxun KG-935g!!

    The Wouxun kg-935g is an outstanding HT.

    Sorry for missing the model. When I input the squelch settings it actually made the UV-5R & UV-9G actually work.

    Which Baofeng? Also you must put your radio in Frequency Mode. Turn the volume (after cable is connected) too full and back off a little. Then upload your file to the radio.
