  1. The BTECH 25x4 uses HT finals, overdriven to 20 watts or so. My UHF went out on mine. I still use it for 220. It also has memory issues now, that I finally got ironed out. Sent from my SM-S911U1 using Tapatalk
  2. You cannot use ham repeaters without a ham license, period. You must reprogram the radio to frequencies you are legally licensed to use. Sent from my SM-S911U1 using Tapatalk
  3. Mine has been working great over 2 years. I'd write btech for an exchange if it doesn't work after a cool down. Sent from my SM-S911U1 using Tapatalk

  6. They do. But some older commercial equipment got both part 90 and part 95 certified. Now manufacturers are too lazy to get both. Sent from my SM-S911U1 using Tapatalk

  12. I do. If I want to converse with strangers, that's what the amateur bands are for. Sent from my SM-S911U1 using Tapatalk
  13. The uv5r is not fcc certified for gmrs use and is therefore illegal on GMRS. Sent from my SM-S911U1 using Tapatalk

  17. I have the BTECH. Nice radio. I haven't experienced any rx/TX issues. Sent from my SM-S911U1 using Tapatalk
  18. No. The reason being that it's illegal for one radio to be used on the amateur bands and GMRS. Sent from my SM-S911U1 using Tapatalk
  19. A true factory reset requires loading in the programming file that was installed on the radio. You should always download from a new radio and save it away for situations such as this. Sent from my SM-S911U1 using Tapatalk
  20. The BTECH GMRS 20-V2 is a 20 watt radio with a cig lighter plug. Sent from my SM-S911U1 using Tapatalk
  21. Many folks, however, actually believe the actual watts increase. I was trying to clarify thar. I consider your answer above to be valid. Sent from my SM-S911U1 using Tapatalk
  22. You answered your own question. An amplifier is a transmitter which requires FCC certification. I care because I don't want GMRS to turn into 27 Mhz. There are too.many CBers already on GMRS trying to ruin it. Sent from my SM-S911U1 using Tapatalk
  23. The FCC is always right. Mostly..... Sent from my SM-S911U1 using Tapatalk

  25. There are no more watts emitting from the antenna. A 25 watt signal is still.25 watts, regardless of antenna design. Gain just indicates how that power is used. Sent from my SM-S911U1 using Tapatalk
