  1. Well heck,, let me try. Good afternoon passenger, welcome aboard flight GMRS 10-100 to Egypt. We are currently pushing back from gate 462/625 and should begin our taxi towards runway 467.625 momentarily. Please ensure that your seatbelts are fastened, your seat backs and tray tables are in their upright and locked positions, and your carry-on luggage is stowed securely under the seat in front of you or in the overhead bins. Please say Hi to our Guest WSHH504 in route to 10-98 in Bum F*ck our final destination. .
  2. I used the ID O Matic on a home brew repeater with two Maxon radios. CWID or Voice works great, programing not difficult and building the board was fun.. I say just try your plan but i warn you, there is no known medicine or Vax out there to cure the virus you are about ready to catch. Have fun
  3. you dont know a single net that is linked, yet some may be.. What ever.. Bye
  4. why i was asking for the call sign. Wanted to look it up by location which would creed some evidence on that theory. Also, most repeater check in's (not all) are linked... What is the call sign of that repeater?
  5. Hot Damn, This Horse is one tough cookie.. Damnnnnnnnn
  6. They can't come close to beating Atlantic Radio cost for Hytera gear.
  7. Illegal repeater linking. What was the Call Sign??
  8. The Surecom SW102 is probably your best bet for fast, quick and pretty accurate readings.. For antenna tunning i prefer the Nano VNA and having both in your tool box is a must iMO
  9. Back in the CB days my favorte radio gadget shopping place was a Marine Electronic Place in New Port Beach Ca. The place carried everything and even had a very good selection of CB Radios. In fact i still have a Pace 40 i bought from the place and even still use it occasionally. That radio out of the box put out 8 watts.. I even still have some Antenna air mounts i bought there some 40 years ago..
  10. Not necessarily true. Different dipole antennas have varying elevation patterns.. Some antennas mostly high gain commercial have low elevation patterns making them ideal for mountain top applications where signal is radiated more downward where many non commercial is just the opposite. Some antennas are designed for optimum performance at a typical 40' heights and others work better mounted on 200' towers sitting on mountain tops. The commercial guys know this and do their homework when selecting antennas. Likewise i think most of us settling up home brew repeater systems should research antenna patterns and select something that works for their applications.
  11. this is geared to de-regulate the big TV/telecom/internet industry and will have zero impact on GMRS.. So to the folks that think this is their gate to 'heaven' to loosen the rains on GMRS,, think again, the FCC will not waste a second reading letters that we need Linking, etc..
  12. but hurt.. Yea, i have hemroids, but we all know where your butt 'hurts' comes from Oh,, we already know your uses.. bye bye
  13. Coming from a guy (?) who promotes and uses Zello..
  14. already that way in the bigger cities. Some areas like Los Angless, Phoenix, Dallas is nothing but a jungle. Pretty bad..
  15. Bold statement claiming the use would be legal by FCC. He better go back and read the FCC's latest interpretation of using GMRS over the internet
  16. Solar Power as a hobby?? That can be one hell of an expensive hobby. I do have 1800 Watts of Solar Panels and 800 Amps of Lippos in my 5th wheel. I can pretty much run on sun power indefinably out camping. I no longer pay for a camping spot i always find a BLM land to camp free. It was quite an investment and i considered it worth the money and effort. I did install everything myself and it was kind of fun doing it but man,, it knocked a pretty good hole in my wallet.. Considering most RV Parks are now charging $100 + per day for full hook ups, you can actually get your money back if your an avid camper.
  17. Meanwhile, up in Mammoth today, i ran into a Frostitute
