  1. Had the same exact problem with an Antron 50 Amp in my garage.. House was new so i was able to get the contractor over to check things out with the Power Panel.. The electrician said exactly what LSCOTT said and suggested i change the breaker to a non GFI Breaker.. Electrician would not do it because of building codes, but i swapped it out in 30 seconds.. No more tripped breakers.
  2. Well,, you could always go with a Hytera PD727, HP682 etc. and make the radio GMRS. Complete IP68 water submerse able water proof and great analog/DMR capable radios.. And pretty much bullet proof against abuse.
  3. Pretty sure it’s Times Microwave.,,, https://timesmicrowave.com
  4. i've heard of repeater installs placing the radio at each antenna by way of of running the CAT 6 interface cable between them. Of course, interfacing a controller in this scenario would be a PITA ..
  5. I'm using about 75' LMR 400 and very happy with it.. Although it does remind me of my younger years.. Stiff as Hell.
  6. This was funny,,, i had to share it as i'm still chucking. Last night getting ready to call it a night i picked up my scanning handheld to put her to sleep for the night.. Right as i pick her up,, CH 7 blips and i hear "Brad finally passed out, coming over" reply "I'm waiting for you baby" LMAO.. We have a big Motorcycle desert race event in town and a few thousand people here for the event so assuming someone is getting a little more action..
  7. rolling hills will kill ya.. There aren't too many repeaters i can hit in the 70 mile rage.. The repeater in particular i like is located on El Paso Peak in the Mojave Desert and overlooks the desert valley as far as the eye can see in all directions. I've talked from Acton Calif to Lone Pine Calif through this repeater with no problems.. End to End that is about 130 miles.. I've heard some reports that people can hit this repeater from Barstow, which would make end to end Barstow to Line at about 150 miles. The Midland antenna is nice GMRS antenna works well. I use a Hytera HM782 radio and it's doing a nice job.
  8. I mounted a Midland MXTA26 to a Third Brake Light bracket i got on Ebay on my Ram.. Very clean install, no drilling and coax easily routes within the headliner through the back side of the third brake light. .. The bracket mounts between the brake light and the roof chassis and looks like a factory install.. I was going to drill the 5/8" hole in the roof but i ran into this bracket a guy was selling, he never used.. I can easily hit repeaters 75-80 miles out, The bracket i got was unpackaged and has no manufacture name tags, otherwise i would share that info.. But i'm sure you can find with a google search. Edited.. I found the info on the bracket.. It's made by Bullet Proof, here is a video... These things are a bit pricey... I got mine for $75, not sure if i would pay the $300 new price.. It is a high quality item....
  9. He has the ‘app’ , why would he need the link.
  10. 3 guys with Yagis works pretty damn well.. we've pinned down the same A-hole on 'Desert Candles' a few times.. But other than finding them,, aint much else you can do... This guy cares less when his name and address is broadcasted. He doesn't jam but a certainly and annoyance with his recordings and body cavity sounds..
  11. I thank god he included an 'off' switch and or a channel selector.. There are some you tune out or turn off..
  12. i'm just wondering if the FCC rule breaker claims stupidity and say's he did his falsehoods because he watched youtube videos claiming he would never get busted.. Or worse yet, (in today's society) he tries to sue the YouTuber people saying they taught him bad habits.. Just saying,, anything goes in this current world..
  13. i think the Beep should be reengineered to say 'Rodger'
  14. try to get yourself a Cable TV outside plant Power Supply Cabinet.. They are perfect for remote repeaters. They have space for 4 dry cell batteries, cooling fans and rack space to place radio equip etc.. They also lock and are very robust and secure. A lot of Cable Co's are rebuilding to FTTH and are removing old plant and dumping it.. I've got two of these and picked them up in Sacramento from a company rebuilding,, free of charge..
  15. I dont know if you checked this faucet but worth a try.. When you launch your software you need to choose your Comm Port within the programing software.. If you dont choose correct com port it won't communicate with radio,.. Look for com port selection in your programing software and try each one and hopefully one will work..
  16. i've had issues with the Windows 11 drivers not only with programing cables but also my repeater controller.. Some cable manufactures have specific drivers only for Windows 11 such as Hytera.. Luckily i've kept a Windows 10 Laptop i can resort to when needed. I've also heard of people installing drivers on Windows 11 under Windows 10 compatibility mode but i've never figured that out, but i guess it's possible.
  17. I saw that coming……. I have a feeling more will come out on this one……. Obviously the guy has retained attorney(s)….hmmm
  18. Yup, with a home brew J-Pole & two stainless steel clams…. Works great and not even grounded
  19. It's not against FCC rules. i set up a Wouxun Repearter shoved in a modified 50 Cal Army can wherever we end up camping., mostly up in the Sierras. The repeater has come in handy and useful many times.. The higher you get, the better it works.. My RV has 2500 Watts of solar so no issues powering... I use a modified telescope flag pole from Harbor Freight for the antenna mast.. I can get the antenna up about 25' and works great..
  20. There is two GMRS repeaters on El Paso Peak, near Ridgecrest, that looks as far as Acton, Victorville -South and Long Pine - North. Thats probably hitting a bit close or over 200 miles end-to-end. GMRS can pack a punch if you have good LOS. Same guy has a Papa and WIN Systems repeater at the same location..
  21. funny how that happens.... but it does
