  1. he is not interested, i've contacted him a few times.. If you want to try to create your own report, The Excel web query was working yesterday i don't know why it's 'hit and miss' on the site but it appears to be working again. You need Excel 2023 to do the query.. it works really well.
  2. you used to be able to use Excel (the newest version) to pull the data from the web site.. But that is no longer working. I agree with you that the site owner should use the KMZ option to the his paid service.. He would easily increase his paid service subscriptions by doing so. I did offer to help him do this for no fees. Even offered to give him the template i built to get the data into KMZ/KML format, he never answered my message. The template i built would allow him to make KML/KMZ for all states. I hope the sample of data i sent will entice him to get this going. In the mean time another web site has reached out to me asking to help them build KMZ files for GMRS. I would rather help this site get it going but we'll see what happens.
  3. Having the complete database in KMZ format is a wonderful thing. And very handy. coming to you soon

Line of site, no obstructions, is the key to GMRS frequencies.. i.e. There is a repeater near me that sits on a ideal location,, it sits at 4,500 feet It has line of site advantage in 300 degrees that can and has reached over 100 miles. Location, location, location..,
  5. two sets of info,, As the latter suggested, program both to see which tones are correct. Some radios will auto detect the tones for you.. CTCSS and DPL are a complete different set of tones. The difference is that CTCSS (Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System) uses continuous tones below 300 Hz whereas DCS (Digital-Coded System) uses digital data or encoded-words which are very unique and all encoded words can be used on the same channel without interference. Transmitter un-keys the code at the end of transmission and just 0.5 seconds before the transmission which indicates the radio at 134 Hz tone which serves as turn off code. The FM deviation level should be in the range of 500 Hz to 800 Hz in DCS technolog.
  6. A signal strength and readability report is a standardized format for reporting the strength of the radio signal and the readability (quality) of the radiotelephone (voice) or radiotelegraph (Morse code) signal transmitted by another station as received at the reporting station's location and by their radio station equipment. These report formats are usually designed for only one communications mode or the other, although a few are used for both telegraph and voice communications. All but one of these signal report formats involve the transmission of numbers. 7. FCC should consider it,, it would be a pretty good revenue maker for them...
  8. i know folks with Ford Trucks are using this and apparently it works. https://www.amazon.com/Buyers-Products-8895404-Magnetic-Mount/dp/B0781XXBCY?th=1
  9. Apparently he found the bug that gave access to the complete database,,, cause that part is now off limits.. I was wondering how long it would take,,
  10. i see he locked up the database as well. can't get to it anymore
  11. Good ole' homemade J-poles work great for GMRS.. Several 'how to's' to build them on a Google Search.. i built one for roughly $20 bucks.
  12. approx 150 miles, Above Palmdale Ca to Lone Pine via the El Paso Peak Repeater. Awesome Repeater, folks have talked San Berdino to Lone Pine, that's near 185 miles, through that Repeater.
  13. I got a deal on a Hytera 682 hand held and it’s been my go to radio since. I’m hooked with HYTERA and doubt I’ll ever go with anything else,.
  14. I had one do similar. I thought it was the radio, but after trading with a wouxon antenna, problem went away, But strangely the Nagoya worked fine in another radio.
  15. Lots of repeaters in Greater Los Angles are filled with jammers. And the problem bleeds over to the GMRS channels.. it’s a zoo down there…
  16. best way to do the Morse Code ID is via a controller. ID O Matic is a pretty good entry level. They come unassembled, (you solder the parts on the board) or you pay a little extra for a complete assembled board. Great entry level controller http://www.hamgadgets.com/ID-O-MATIC-IV ICS make a pretty good full blown controller. A lillll more pricey but worth the extra functions. It uses a PI computer board for the brain. i use this one and love it. https://ics-ctrl.com
  17. if you are pulling wire through walls etc. make your own.. not that difficult to make the connectors, lots of videos on-line that shows some neat tricks making them...
  18. a lot of HAM beginners listen to NETS and probably feel they are suppose to say their call sign phonetically because that's what they do on NETS.. Just a few weeks ago i was listening in on WiN and a net controller was calling for new HAMS to identify.. One person identified in alpha and numeral sequence, NET controller asked him to repeat phonetically, guy repeats again in alpha numeral. NET controller get's pissed and tells the guy if he wishes to use the club repeater he will follow club requirements/rules, one of them being phonetic call signs when requested. Guy went silent. I then went to their club rule page and no where did i see anything applying to use of phonetic call signs. Most Net controllers on WIN and PAPA (less on PAPA) require phonetic call sign and i would bet it all started by ex-military HAMS because the military actually teaches phonetic use which in turn rolled over to Law Enforcement.. The FBI seldom uses phonetics. You are right, no where in the rules does it apply phonetic requirement for call signs other than suggesting morse code is acceptable.
  19. Get ya a controller to do the PL work for ya..
  20. kind of like what you do against HAMS on a non stop basis.. Boy, someone really got your goat. Frankly,, you are getting old. Literally!!
