I don't remember paying when i obtained mine in around 74.. If I remember correctly, i went too the local post office on base, filled out a form, name address, birthday etc. checked two boxes agreeing to abide by rules and sent it with a prepaid stamped postage card. About 30 days later l got my call sign in the mail. For the life of me, i can't remember that call sign.. Probably cause i never used it .. Back in that day, I don't think i would have wasted $20 for a license, considering that could have filled the tank in my 70 SS Chevelle 5 times.

the difference between CB and GMRS in the FCC's mind is 'cash' CB licensing got them nothing, GMRS is a pretty good cash cow for them.. So no, i don't think the same thing will happen.

the odds the FCC will go after people specifically for using non-certified radios is very very slim. One would have a better chance of winning 10 Lotteries. For those that program their non-compliant radios to the exact specs for a given frequency per fcc rules, it would be impossible for the FCC to even enforce it. Now to the idiots that prgram their radios to 40 watts in the FRS band. Go get em'

Its not actually blocking but rather 'ignoring' The idiot would still be there in the wild but his crazy post would be ignored on your feed.. You woiuld still have the chance to call him out.

Most of us have blocked SOCALGMRS so we no longer see his rude mean comments.. I dont think his problem is a result of a naging wife. No women would want anything to do with him. The best way to deal with the idiot is ignore him.. Hover over his member icon, select ignore, make sure to check all the boxes on the bottom.. He'll go away.

On my 5888UV, i programed and (listened) to GMRS but loved to use it for my HAM contacts. Really great radio it was.

Did BuyTwoWay change something? Just 6 months ago they answered by questions on a Duplexer i needed to get them to re-tune on a Saturday.. With the info they sent I fed X'd them the Duplxer first thing on a Monday mornning and i had it back in my hands the follwing Monday..

Since you don't mention GMRS only i would recommend an Anytone AT5888UV which has a removable head (works easy) and they sell a separation kit which is basically a long CAT 3 or 5 cable and a mount for the head. If you are 3D savvy you can make your own head mount. This is a dual band radio. The one i have, which I rdon't use anymore came shipped unlocked so was able to program GMRS. I used in my last jeep for a while then went to a Midland MXT575 (which i liked a lot)..

now after folliwing the above instructions it's so nice not to see that SoCal on these pages. Pooof.. Gone

if its the Repeater with Auto Voice ID announcing the wrong time and date, I believe it sits on a hillside north of Pasadena. It seems to be a unattended repeater, i often wondered if the guy died or something

Seasonal allegories never bothered me until two years ago. I dread when late feb early may comes around. My wife used to deal with allegories then about 5 years ago just out of the blue the allegories never bothers her anymore. .. Weird how the imune system works.
