Not only digital data but a growing trend of people using DMR on GMRS.. I've noticed the 4 Wheelers like to use digital down here in the desert.. GMRS has turned into a hotbed of 'lets do whatever we want'
I'd go with a home brew J-pole or Ed Fong's J-Pole.. I actually have both that i have used for my portable repeater and both are pretty impressive antennas.. Ed Fong is a bit more 'eye' pleasing.
I dont think this forum has a quota.. After all, there are a small handful that basically live here, its there life.. So you shouldn't have any problems.... Post away
GMRS is cast in its own stone... There will not be any changes now or almost ever.....1 & 2 = 61 days and counting down.. In the meantime,, we have a Lame Duck
Go over to the FCC Complaint page and log a complaint.. The NY guys you are talking about are doing the same thing in N.J. and Penn.... make some noise...
When i was dating my mama told me to stick with the first good one i caught. Well, i didn't listen to mamma and ended up trying out quite of few and ended up spending a ton.. Now here I sit happy as a go-lark with the 'first one' kicking myself i should've listened to Mama... The antenna that ships with your radio is going to do the best all around job.. unless you break the damn thing, leave it alone
Yup,, i am a good fit here in California.. And like the Copper State, I'm not welcome here either.. But making life a 'living hell' for some folks is what i do best.. Like Arizona, notice Calif is slowly oozing red.. My friends are dong a good job in AZ though.. give them a big hand, they're working hard.. Cheers mate. Catch ya on the 20 sometime
Try connecting a mobile or base antenna to the hand held (if you have the adapters). Or if you know of a location with direct line of site, try that. Make sure to test both talkies.
Sometimes and more often than none, repeater owners change up their PL tones without posting their changes. Is it possible to contact repeater owner directly to conform PL settings.
There are several on-line tools. Try Splat.. You will need coordinates. You can get that off the KML maps if your are a paid member.. Or if you know how to read nd decode the site HTML data you can pick site coordinates from there...
Hustler Antennas said it can't be fixed.. Well, its fixed and better than the factory fiberglass shell. One inch pipe fits like it was meant to be and a taper to 3/4 inch finishes it .. Back to business.
