Actually, that would be very interesting considering the proposal is asking for 100 watts and repeater use in the 6M area. Can you imagine the 'FARS' people would get. This would open a whole new game.. I like the idea
I traveled thru said areas on vacation runs and telling you my experience. I often travel to the Las Angeles areas both from the East to West and visa versa and that area is a mad house on every channel. I honestly can't recall a single time not getting interrupted on a radio call by someone being a jerk. I'm not necessary referring to repeater traffic but more of simplex communications in both FRS and GMRS frequencies. I have had some problems on repeater frequencies but seldom.. When we travel in groups we always use simplex channels because there is no need to tie up a repeater frequency.. However, the stuff i hear on the repeaters channels may not be annoying but for the most part comical. I swear, when i travel to L.A. i hear the same guy hollering out for radio checks on practically every repeater i have programed like a broken record.. No, i dont want to talk to that guy, it's not you by any chance is it ...
Fiberglass is considered stronger than steel when comparing their strength-to-weight ratios, meaning fiberglass can provide similar strength while being much lighter. Carbon Fiber is even greater in strength than steel compared to to strength-to weight ratios and less in weight compared to to fiberglass. And then consider some vehicles are now made with aluminum, which is great for strength but offers poor flexibility and impact resistance which would be a poorer choice of mounting an antenna too.
To some people, common sense clearly tells them it makes more sense to spend $50-100 bucks a year to utilize a well maintained repeater system that can reach across multiple counties and even states. Think about that for a minute, a repeater system with a net worth close to $50K and they only have to spend $100 year in membership fees.. As JB would say,,,, Common Mannnnnn
i've been using Midland antennas on my mobile's for about 4 years now and won't use anything else. To the guy that calls Midland 'junk'. I challenge you to prove to me that you are correct. With all the actual test i have done using numerous other antennas, i can promise that Midland antennas outperform many others.
I think the only profit to be had is going to be barely enough to recoup the investment, if even that.. A guy i recently met whom is also a HAM operator had over a dozen GMRS repeaters. And he wasn't using cheap equipment. He admits to charging membership fees to make money. His membership numbers aren't that great to make him a fortune. My math tells me he was barely scraping the barrel to pay for the operation. The guy is a 'radio nut' he enjoys radio and nothing else. He is obviously doing what he does to keep himself occupied and happy. He was linking all his repeaters and he believed he was operating his repeaters within the rules, but after the FCC clarified the rules on GMRS linking he is in process of decommissioning.. I bought one of his repeaters and it's a damn nice piece of equipment. Some of his sites, he does pay tower lease so even an added expense. I still scratch my head why someone will spend the amount of money they do. I finally concluded, it doesn't matter to me,, it's there 'business'
aside from communicating in that zoo, i would try a couple cheap handhelds first and try to connect through one of the repeaters (of course asking permission to use) My experience using GMRS in your area is hit and miss and very busy.. Good Luck
The Chinese are busy at the moment making deals with Vietnam and India to manufacture their products.. I'm sure they will do the same with their testing. Move it out of China into another country but with the same motives doing it in the heart of China. Pretty soon, you see Baofang made in China and Baofang made in India.
for the most part and in most areas i agree, GMRS users are generally polite, however in the areas if have traveled in in the last two three years (in this order) i find Los Angles, Sacramento, Dallas, parts of Arizona and parts of Washington to be complete jerks. Los Angeles i just turn the radio off..
These off shore call centers (mostly India) the our banks, and medical professions contract with is scary, especially considering the personal informations these call centers have on you in another country that has zero identity laws.
in my case, it was just easier to close my bank account and walk across the street and open a new one with a different bank.. Symantec actually got sued for their scam practice a few years after this happen. I was part of the class action dn got a whopping $43 bucks for my part.
You would think it would be that easy but nope. Read this article https://www.creditcardreviews.com/blog/yes-you-can-be-auto-billed-even-if-you-change-your-card-number
