Don't forget at least a 25watt solar panel to keep said battery charged

Diamond has 2 mounts that are very useful, K400 and K412 in which the K412 has a 3 axis position adjustment and the K400 is 2. I have both and they both work good.

Darn it, I'm going to miss working all next week, freezing my butt off in cold weather to fix things on job sites. "NOT!!!"

At what signal level would you expect near full quieting to occur?
WRUI365 replied to LeoG's topic in General Discussion
And remember this one important thing. Not all radios are the same. Some like my Moto R7 will try to enhance the received signal with processing to make it clearer if need be. It all depends on the equipment you using at the time. -
Already have D75A, waiting for Kenwood triband mobile to come out next year.

Sometimes you need a outside source to help you make decisions on what you going to do. Maybe this will help or maybe not.

When is one officially become a “radio dork”?
WRUI365 replied to GMRSJohn's topic in Miscellaneous Topics
First became one when I took a little AM radio apart when I was 12 years old and put it back together again. It has culminated into my addiction over the decades, including having to enlist in the Army, MOS being 064C and it ballooned after that. Some costing thousands. Then things took a turn around when you mix computers and radios together, oh boy!! Who would of thought? People looking at my antenna as it goes up and down sometimes as I band hop. Just the look on there faces. I'm a radio Dork and there is no cure except more more more. -
Actually, APRS is more then just throwing out a position report for which the BTech Pro is doing for which only other BTech Pro users can see. Though APRS is used primarily in VHF at 144.390mhz US at 1200 baud, can be used at 9600 baud UHF, and 300 Baud HF. Position reporting, weather, telemetry, messaging, and other uses like IGATE, Digipeaters relaying others beacons and messages over airwaves and thru the internet back to airwaves world wide. So people might be getting confused about the terms and what can be done with it. APRS in Amateur radio is just another form of packet radio that is used in the spectrum area of VHF that can be used for AX.25 packet protocol. Position reporting is one thing, heck my Harris XG100P can give and receive position reports from other Harris users on P25 protocol which is called SA"situation awareness" just by keying up mic button. That is just postion reporting, not APRS. So people have to realize that there are huge differences with certain gear and should not confuse the terms.

Also most if not all Alternators on current vehicles, there voltage output is controlled by the pcm, not by how fast the rpm is going. If you hook up a diagnostic tool and look at the voltage a alternator is putting out. You would think something is wrong.

whatever you do, don't use the muffler bearings from China

How many MURZ farz in the woods?
WRUI365 replied to GreggInFL's topic in Multi-Use Radio Service (MURS)
Don't even get into the QRP side of HF, depending on atmospheric conditions, you could reach out quite a distance. -
Will Yaesu 6000r with ATAS120 tune gmrs?
WRUI365 replied to WSBA587's question in Technical Discussion
The radio in question doesn't have the circuitry in it to drive the ATAS120 motor to tune it, so the answer is a big no. -
I have 2 Motorola's that I use for GMRS and HAM 70cm myself, they are the XPR7550E and XPR5550E. Handheld and mobile which both also do dmr along with analog. Just a thought if you go that route. Also have a Harris XG100pP which covers vhf/uhf and scan the 700/800 bands along with vhf/uhf trunk frequencies.

Kenwood TH-D75A Tri-Band Handheld Transceiver with D-STAR and APRS
WRUI365 replied to WRTT642's topic in Amateur Radio (Ham)
Have my D75A in hand and with the Openspot 4 Pro can crossmode into DMR, YSF, NXDN, plus using DSTAR. Only xmode can't do is P25 with it, but then again I actually do have a P25 handheld. USB-C charging at 5 watts. USB and bluetooth programming. And a few other nice things on it. You get what you pay for. -
Looks like Alinco is getting into the GMRS market. DJ-G46T. https://www.remtronix.com%2Fgmrs-radios%2Fdj-g46%2F%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR3T5WUQac6zaMPNQDcYzZLVMCMXA128v_a2M1bYzzdATzgg13fYQMiQTiU&h=AT3hnAUiw5KG5LHARFnOX_Ur7tM19AlJCO_LXG5SrNXF4czInO4segyhMJzjPTdS3YaKEN4njh3f36Ei4y0w0KBnRvifom3yzrX35jjAMZaxcVd1GL3Hd62WPXQ359pcX7c7sLBfJWoLZqYqkGFuvw

The 70CM band for Amateur radio covers 420mhz to 450mhz. Some other countries have different blocks, but in the US we have 30mhz of use. People getting devices that are from other countries and using them here in that frequency block are in for a big disappointment because those devices aren't actually legal to use. They complain to the FCC about interference issues and find out the hard way.

I myself have 2 moto xpr uhf model radios which I use on gmrs and ham, xpr7550e covers 403-512mhz and dmr and analog xpr5550e covers 403-470mhz.

I'm just a gear jamming service tech that happens to be a ham and gmrs license holder. And a computer gamer to boot. Now it's time to take over the world in a funny twisted way.
