Yes. The KG-1000 plus does. They asked about mobile GMRS radio.

Welcome to the forum and GMRS @WSEI278 and a welcome to @WSEI509 as well. You are in good radio dork company!

You beat me to it

A better response than mine.

The problem with Pirates is… they got such a cool name.

I certainly wouldn’t guess what they would decide to do? Your guess is as good as anybody’s.

I agree. This is most certainly is the case as things are at this moment. The FCC has stated their position on linking and why. Any attempt to link multiple repeaters no matter what method would certainly fall within their reasons for prohibiting them. What people decide to do and what the FCC decides to do is another matter but their position has been clarified. “The GMRS is available to an individual for short-distance two-way communications to facilitate the activities of licensees and their immediate family members“ “Linking multiple repeaters to enable a repeater outside the communications range of the handheld or mobile device to retransmit messages violates sections 95.1733(a)(8) and 95.1749 of the Commission’s rules, and potentially other rules in 47 C.F.R” “In addition to violating Commission rules, linking repeaters is not in the public interest. Because GMRS spectrum is limited and used on a shared “commons” basis, the service only works well on a localized basis when users can hear each other and cooperate in the sharing of channels. Linking repeaters not only increases the potential for interference, but also uses up a limited spectrum resource over much larger areas than intended, limiting localized availability of the repeater channels.”

If you’re needing to boost the volume more than a remote speaker, Midland has a waterproof powered amplified speaker with noise cancelation. Midland- SPK200 Heavy-Duty 20W Amplified External Speaker Here’s a review

Don’t mind Randy, it could be a ham touched his antenna once and he’s never been the same or it’s just that his persona requires a dig at hams at least once a day? He’s really alright. We think.

I had a situation once where the driver that hit me was a minor driving a friends car and her mother refused to give me insurance info and settle until I said “we’re done here, I’ll see you in court”. Magically all was suddenly taken care of. The threat alone can be enough to motivate some people.

I’m sure you could support your story with signed affidavits from your passengers and that he’ll unlikely be able to get people to lie for him. These things can boil down to perseverance. Hang in there.

My brother had his van totaled and the damage was cosmetic that he was able to fix. Anyway the other party’s insurance paid him and he was able to keep the vehicle. He had to go to DMV and register it as a salvage vehicle.

I’m so sorry this happened to you Steve. I hope his girlfriend saw him for who he is and gets far away. I’m glad you got out of there without it being even worse. Hit a run is no joke.

I imagine it would be quite difficult to remember what is programmed and where in one’s radio. I can only think of maybe six repeaters I know by number.
-
I also have it turned off on all my radios. It is too bad that it doesn’t speak what is typed in. That would be helpful for blind people not to mention I’d love it if it said Bozo 478.

Just in case you don’t know, someone needs to be transmitting for you to pick up tones being used to be able to decode them.
-
It looks like a pay to play system, have you reached out via their club site, Facebook or their club members forum here? Perhaps something is going on with the system do to newly clarified rules on linking.
-
Perhaps I was reading more into what OP was saying. To clarify I thought they were suggesting that people could just transmit on the radio to respond to what they hear via listening to scanning on the inter web. Which would be a one way communication as far as the radio is concerned. Thus my comment of broadcasting. I wasn’t referring to the rebroadcasting per se. Not really linking though.
-
If I understand you correctly the first thing that comes to my mind is you can’t use GMRS for broadcasting and if you aren’t having a communication over the radio that’s what you’d be doing.
-
I’m not sure I agree. Maybe you are right but I also think you will find a large number of the people linking repeaters are also part 97 users. I am glad to see you included this in your list. Along with keying up on channels in other areas without even knowing I think taking up multiple channels in the same area is the biggest problem. I’m not sure how you get people to not do this but I appreciate that you are looking at the issues with linking in your proposal. So good on you for that.

Good luck with getting your ham license. If you aren’t already aware check out Hamstudy.org they have just updated their app yesterday. I found it very helpful and it’s even better now.
-
Now that you know the repeater location this line of sight tool may help you see what you can expect connecting to it and from where. Good luck.

FCC Shutdown of New York GMRS Linked Repeater System

https://forums.mygmrs.com/topic/6252-time-to-get-serious/?_rid=9445 I think there was another one that was specifically about the forum but I’m not sure. You gotta have humor in life though… I think anyway.
