  1. I don’t know about Midlands but most others do. Take a look at the recommendations from @WRYZ926 below.
  2. What channels are you hearing this on? 15 -22 shares receive frequencies with repeater channels so it’s possible that they are coming through a repeater so they may not hear you. It’s possible also you are just too far away to reach them even though you can hear them or they may have tones set and don’t hear you.
  3. @WSAB905 if this happens while moving It could be what is known as picket fencing which can happen if the signal is being interrupted by obstacles and (as I understand it) parts of the signal are arriving at different speeds. …I’m sure someone can explain it better than me.
  4. Welcome @WSAH452. I think that knowing how to program your radios via the front panel is valuable.
  5. I agree. I take no credit. It’s the fine work of one of our great members here @marcspaz. Lots of useful info and he does a nice job making it easy to follow.
  6. Welcome to the forum @WSAG780. Check out @marcspaz’s Intro to GMRS Video.
  7. I did read that and yes they seem to have already considered and come to a consensus. I found it insightful on decisions made and not just regarding the bubble pack debacle.
  8. That was quite the read. A true history lesson there. Thanks for the post.
  9. @WSAA635 Check your frequency limits
  10. I would totally take that taxi! …sorry I couldn’t resist
  11. I have always used Chirp but I think you should be able to do it front panel but you will have to select AM-SW for each memory you want to see as AM. On my radio it’s menu 54.
  12. Not to shabby at all. It looks good too.
  13. I guess you missed my post where I posted from the NEC, but yes that is what the NEC says. "as near as practicable to the entrance of the conductors to the building". I don't think the push back of your statement "don't ground and why" has to do with hams attitude but rather the statment is encouraging unsafe practice. You wouldn't say don't lock firearms up when children are in a home on a gun forum (I hope) and I can assure you not following the NEC on grounding and bonding can have grave consequences. To answer the question "are you an electrician?" Yes I am. 35 years IBEW. I have endless stories of electricity doing things people didn't expect. Discussion is good, though I would start with a question rather than an untrue statment if info is what you are seeking. As for Randy and the Sad Ham debacle... gate keepers are everywhere in life unfortunately. It's not exclusive to hams. @Sshannon's link is very good info. Be safe. 73's
  14. I see an input tone on the repeater page. It also looks like a separate input for linked access which is mentioned in info below the map. More importantly what’s a puddle pirate?
  15. Maybe this would be an option (just picked one at random). I also did some digging around eBay and what not for the mic with no luck... though it might end up costing me, damn window shopping
  16. The NEC begs to differ, and this is just a small bit on what it has to say.
  17. Mine looks a little different at the top of configuration. Not sure if it's this radio or the Mac software. perhaps someone else with you exact set up can chime in. Amazon makes for easy returns and I think you would get good customer help from Buy two way radios or Better safe radios.
  18. okay I missed you statement at the top. That said I checked my radio KG-UV9PX (essentially the same radio) and this was enabled.
  19. @WSAA635, this one sticks out to me. Try enabling this.
  20. Thank you, this was what I meant by top section but better said.
  21. @WSAA635, can you screenshot your Chirp settings for us? Maybe it will show something. Are the frequencies you’re trying to put in within the radio’s ability? Also depending on where you are and what you’re listening to maybe there isn’t much to hear? When you try to front panel program are you in the top section? Sorry if some of this sounds obvious, it’s difficult to know what is going on so I’m throwing out all I can think of. What antenna are you using? Is it a case of not being able to put the frequency in or it not receiving? It looks like you said you were able to program a couple.
  22. @WSAA635 make sure you choose AM in the mode column in Chirp. You may want to select "Auto AM in the radio menu. Also I believe your radio will only receive AM in the top section of your radio, not the lower. I hope this helps.
  23. looks like @WRNN959 beat me to it, cheers.
