My wheeling friends tell me that my radio sounds crappy (over modulated?) when transmitting at high power (50 watts), however they said it sounds much better at medium power (20 watts). So, i decided to change both my antenna and its location. Originally it was a midland ghost antenna mounted on the lip of my hood and had an SWR of 1.01. Now I have located it behind the cab of my jeep and got a Midland MXTA26 whip antenna SWR is now 1.3 as expected due to less ground plane, and the same problem exists. Is there a setting in the radio I should check?
