San Jose is made up of 10 districts, each with its own CERT group. Each group has at least one GMRS mobile base station in a box. It's a standard build that consists simply of a 20-watt radio, 10 AH battery, in a plastic .30 cal. ammo box with a bulkhead connector to connect to an antenna. Of course, not to be "stuck" with a "general issue" box, I built my own box. It's a 25-watt Radioddity alongside a 10AH battery with a similar bulkhead connector. There's also a battery charger in there. I can also run USB-A, cigarette lighter port. There's a volt meter to monitor power.
