Change My Mind - I Don't Need Permission to Use Your Repeater

I sort of apply the "African Militia" concept to GMRS repeaters. There are these groups/clubs that have formed up around the country to establish control over some or all of the 8 repeater pairs on GMRS, and then carry on like they own them (because they own the machines they put there). Sort of like how some rebel factions in Africa might cordon off a water source and then impose a tax to have access. Despite those resources being meant for the public domain.

Unfortunately, due the the personality profiles that tend to be proliferate among low self esteem radio nerd types (the same types that are eager to become things like forum moderators or Facebook group admins), their actual goal really is just to establish an entity to invite people to participate in, simply so that they have something to lord over, or even charge a membership fee to use!

This is when we have the African Militia problem..

So basically my attitude is, yes, those are your machines. And it's my opinion that when you put them to function on "467.650" or whatever, you've essentially signed up to allow it to be used in the public domain. Because it's the "467.650" part that ISNT yours. And if you don't like that, VACATE...

there is appositely NOTHING one can do to stop someone from using/abusing your repeater short of shutting it completly down..  We'v e been dealing with an A$$ wipe who jams, and plays noise games, on both GMRS and HAM repeaters in my area for years, back to 2021 that I can remember. We know who he is, where he lives etc.  Complaints to the FCC are useless.  When this guy cursed two young girls on FRS  and the father, who is a cop heard the idiot and paid a visit to his door, that was useless.  If someone is hell bent on using and abusing your repeater you have no recourse..  I will say, we haven't heard him for the last two months, he is 73 years old so with any luck he's gone..

Part 90 DOES require professional programming.

It does?

Can you please point me in the direction where it says that or cite me the specific rule in Part 90 not only for programming, also for the repair of the radio?

I believe the regs did say that back in the "tube age" days and during the days of the General Radio Class Licenses, but not today.
