  1. Oh, it's working... Not sure what the deal was..
  2. I tried all of the typical things. Forgot password and all that. The front end site still didnt like the newly created password either.. There's something else going on. Let me try again real quick to make sure it hasn't resolved itself before you report it..
  3. I sort of apply the "African Militia" concept to GMRS repeaters. There are these groups/clubs that have formed up around the country to establish control over some or all of the 8 repeater pairs on GMRS, and then carry on like they own them (because they own the machines they put there). Sort of like how some rebel factions in Africa might cordon off a water source and then impose a tax to have access. Despite those resources being meant for the public domain. Unfortunately, due the the personality profiles that tend to be proliferate among low self esteem radio nerd types (the same types that are eager to become things like forum moderators or Facebook group admins), their actual goal really is just to establish an entity to invite people to participate in, simply so that they have something to lord over, or even charge a membership fee to use! This is when we have the African Militia problem.. So basically my attitude is, yes, those are your machines. And it's my opinion that when you put them to function on "467.650" or whatever, you've essentially signed up to allow it to be used in the public domain. Because it's the "467.650" part that ISNT yours. And if you don't like that, VACATE...
  4. Yep, lots of 440 antennas still have a usable dip into the GMRS region. I actually have the GP9-NC which moves the resonance towards the GMRS side, and the reverse is true, I can also use 440..
  5. Using my correct log in to try to log into MyGMRS.com, the front side website to view repeater listings and such, not the forum. It giving a red tag error of 429. Same log in credentials logs my into this forum just fine..
  6. I’m not sure I follow. Firstly, rescue from what? As far as I’m aware, only explicit military targets were targeted, and pretty surgically.. Secondly, I think you underestimate the Persian people there.. They’re actually pretty capable and educated.. I’m sure they’re not for want of all of the Baofengs they need..
  7. You’re a ham radio guy. Enjoy it!
  8. Well it’s right there.. Personal and business activities. Concerned parties. Not “making contacts” across licenses.
  9. I do actually… I can point to language that pretty much implies that the use of GMRS is meant to be utilitarian, and I can also point to the Family Radio Service “adjacentness” to pretty much lay out what the “spirit of what GMRS is meant to be”,… And contrastly, who are actually the ones clogging up the works.. And by authority I mean, in the sense that I’m an authority of a well read user of the part 95 rules. Not one in the sense that I can kick in doors and shoot dogs.. I’ll challenge anyone here on part 95a subsection e like a theologian…
  10. I get it.. You’re vested in your GMRS situation and identity. You should meditate on it. You actuate out of bounds.
  11. It’s simple. If you’re not with a concerned group of people with utility of the GMRS service. Beat it… It’s not a radio AOL chat room. It’s concerned groups and families doing THINGS. Don’t clog up a repeater pair with your money if you’re not with that vibe. The technicians class and the 440 is SOOO available for you guys… And you’re right at home there. You can just pour over your latest dialysis treatments and all the rest, and they’ll hang on your every word. But the GMRS/FRS is just for the groups, friends, and families just trying to keep in touch in the field. It’s wives, 13 year old girls, and dads. If you made a repeater, and this type of traffic isn’t welcome, then actually… YOU need to vacate. Free up that repeater pair for the 5 watt repeaters that actually need to be there..
  12. No it’s not isolated. It’s anywhere. Through public repeaters and the home simplex that has tones. They scan the tones. The bothersome old men get involved..
  13. Yeah it’s label maker taped onto the radios. But when it’s just minutia communications between our party, why is some guy even trying to chat us up? it’s just like, go away,.. lol And to my original post. We could just be like beep beebeep beep bebeep bebeep beep beep bebeep.. That’s my call sign.. it doesn’t MATTER if you know it. The papers are in order with the FCC. Other users don’t really need to police it. Amateur radio users have the culture of self policing. This isn’t that. When I go fishing, I don’t walk the shore checking licenses..
  14. Well I suppose that’s sort of the predicate issue. The general use of GMRS as a social venue. And then expanded from there, the amount of people who want to shout “WHISKEY SIERRA UNIFORM BRAVO”,… Just conjuring images of them with a headset on at a submarine radio station… It’s a practical use band. Like, my wife and kids are camping. I think what most of you guys are MEANING to do is ham radio. And that’s 20mhz south on the dial. So why not just head on over there? You’re creeping out the casual folks just trying to use GMRS (women and children) who are trying to use GMRS correctly. My wife doesn’t need to be asked what her call sign is from some goof while I’m on my way back to the camp site with a bag of ice…
