WSKP739 Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 Just getting started and I noticed that there are repeaters listed on the RepeaterBook website that are not on this website. Wondering if RepeaterBook is really up-to-date? Quote

Wondering if RepeaterBook is really up-to-date? The only way GMRS repeaters get added to either site is if someone voluntarily submits them. More have been submitted here than there but there’s no mechanism that automagically updates either site. As such I would not expect either site to be “really up-to-date.” WRUU653 1 Quote
WRUU653 Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 You will find much more listings on this site for GMRS repeaters than RepeaterBook. My area alone is 7 to 1. If you turn on stale and offline it’s more like 12 to 1. Which is something else worth noting. On MYGMRS site if a repeater hasn’t been updated by the owner in over a year it will disappear from the map unless you select stale repeaters. I would recommend turning on stale and offline when checking for repeaters in your area. You may find some you didn’t know about. SteveShannon 1 Quote

For some reason, all the repeaters disappear from the map when I select stale repeaters. I end up having to use the listings instead. I wonder if this happens to anyone else. Quote

Keep in mind that some people regret listing their repeater and desist it afterwards, Frankly, one should never list their repeater, even if it's open for public use. Quote

To recreate: In a map view: Then turn on “Stale Repeaters” And all except those in the center of the screen vanish. KBSherwood and WRUU653 1 1 Quote

Untill it gets fixed I found a work around by opening a repeater then going back to the map page and selecting the stale and offline repeaters while the repeater I looked up is still highlighted on the map. It's temporary and kind of sucks but hopefully Rich will fix this because it's far from user friendly. SteveShannon 1 Quote

What if someone wants it to be seen? Just interested. Are you saying that nobody should list their repeater? Quote

Are you saying that nobody should list their repeater? If one really desires to list it they surely can and I encourage them to do so. From personal experience in our area, we find listing repeaters to be more problematic and attracting people that are most likely unlicensed and prefere to kerchunk or engage in activities not suitable for GMRS. Word of mouth cuts this slightly. Quote
