How many people really use the VHF radio MURS service?

Here in California, I hear the Urban Search and Rescue units in the county uses CH3 151.940 for their training.

It's amazing how they coordinate the units for the exercise.

Central Maryland, besides myself have never heard any activity on the MURS channels. Maybe if I lived closer to a Walmart.

I've started using it a little around the place.  Mostly as an intercom between the house and shop.  Just added a cheap HT to the mix.

So far, have not heard anyone else on.

I like it for that very reason. Wife and I do the same thing. Not many will hear your conversations.
