MCGMCG Posted April 8, 2021 Report Posted April 8, 2021 Any advice on programming a Kenwood TK 8160 K ? Proper cable? software? Correct version of Windows OS? Quote
0 tweiss3 Posted April 8, 2021 Report Posted April 8, 2021 You need the Kenwood software KPG-99D (v1.55), which works on windows 7 and 10. The cable needs to be an FTDI USB to RJ-45 8 pin cable, look up bluemax49er on ebay, that's where I got mine. wayoverthere 1 Quote

I might have found one cheaper but I feel confident this will work without issues. Too many super cheap Chinese cables using the counterfeit Prolific chip that don't work out there. 0 MCGMCG Posted April 9, 2021 Author Report Posted April 9, 2021 I have the cable on order from bluemax49ers. Looks like it comes with the software. Ill probably have some questions when I get stumped on programming. I’m new to the radio world and GMRS seemed like a good place to start. Thanks for the advice everyone! Quote
