Advice programming Kenwood TK-8160-K

You need the Kenwood software KPG-99D (v1.55), which works on windows 7 and 10. The cable needs to be an FTDI USB to RJ-45 8 pin cable, look up bluemax49er on ebay, that's where I got mine.

Based on the good comments on the forum I ordered one myself from Bluemax49er for a Kenwood NX-820GH mobile radio I was given. I might have found one cheaper but I feel confident this will work without issues. Too many super cheap Chinese cables using the counterfeit Prolific chip that don't work out there.

I have the cable on order from bluemax49ers. Looks like it comes with the software. Ill probably have some questions when I get stumped on programming. I’m new to the radio world and GMRS seemed like a good place to start. Thanks for the advice everyone!
