ArmyMP Posted February 23, 2022 Report Posted February 23, 2022 Are Larsen mobile antennas still the kinda gold standard? Started looking at a Larsen NMO 150-450-800 antenna. Quote
gman1971 Posted February 23, 2022 Report Posted February 23, 2022 Not sure if they are the gold standard, but I use them on my cars, with good results. G. ArmyMP 1 Quote
gortex2 Posted February 23, 2022 Report Posted February 23, 2022 Depends on what your looking for. I run the Larsen all band on all 4 of my 8500's. They sweep better on 800 than the MSI all band. Most of the commercial antenna manufacturers make good antenna's. Larsen, Laird, PCTel all are decent. JohnE, gman1971 and ArmyMP 3 Quote
tcp2525 Posted February 23, 2022 Report Posted February 23, 2022 I use the NMO2/70B dual band antennas on all my vehicles, including both motorcycles without issue. They just work great. That's the only antenna I will only use. Quote
PACNWComms Posted February 23, 2022 Report Posted February 23, 2022 Larson are still great antennas. Larson and Laird are the mainstay of a fleet of vehicle antennas I have used for decades now (NMO New Motorola style that is). Although, buying from Tessco, I sometimes get ones that are rebranded, but are clearly either Larson or Laird in construction and design in their packaging. For some installs Stico is the "go to" now though, as many vehicles get parked in underground garages and I need the increased flexibility of the Stico. JohnE 1 Quote
