When repeaters are linked like that do they also incorporate voting?

As far as I know these don't, they're on different frequency pairs. It's strange because when somebody is on each repeater you can hear two talking at the same time. You don't get the weird noise that's typical when two FM stations key up over each other.

Like with the WA-WAs and Worbles and all that heterodyning stuff.

Is this thread dead? Is the Troy repeater dead?  It says "disabled by owner"

This thread may be dead, but Troy repeater is pretty much alive. I just got new mobile antenna today and decided to test repeater from my driveway (15 miles away) and I got response from repeater.

And it is open system now.

Great!  I live in Sterling Hgts, should be able to reach it with my hand helds. In the process of getting a mobile for my truck

Also...I thought I read somewhere that there was a repeater in Mt. Clemens. Don't remember where I saw that and can't find it now.

Actually I don’t see a whole lot in Michigan period.  Could be good could be bad depending on how you look at it.

Try GR550 if you are on the west side of the state. Rick runs it and was very quick to allow me access.  I was only passing through so didn't have much time to monitor, but it has good range.

GR725 is promising, but down at the moment.

Does anyone know if repeaters in the Roscommon/ Grayling area are linked to for instance Saginaw or Metro Detroit? A guy on Mackinac Island was able to come through on Mount Clemens or Detroit repeater recently and I'm curious what he was connected to. My brother is trying to figure out what repeater he might be able to use while in Roscommon.

Yes, and officially, No.  There was a group that linked a bunch of repeaters, GMRS and Ham bands and created their own internet backbone for doing so.  They undid the public info about it, and no longer list the GMRS linked repeaters on their site.  However it seems they still see action.
If that's what is going on, this would be the repeaters they 'used to' link. image.thumb.png.b5fb8c0cc93981ccb4470eef47dde443.png

Thanks! They are for sure still sometimes linked. Detroit and mt. Clemens always is. Cheboygan, Flint, Saginaw always is. Sometimes they will link the two groups but not always. The north group seems to think Detroit is where tomfoolery comes from but we've all seen it from both sides. So they only link the two groups when it can be monitored now.

That figures. I frequently monitor the FRS/GMRS channels when out walking for exorcise. I rather routinely hear traffic from outside of the area when on the Detroit and Mt Clemens machines, so the linking is still on-going, just not publicly advertised.

Everyone I've heard behaves themselves, ID's etc. and no crazy topics. You might even get bored monitoring the system. The weather reports are useful at times, particularly in the winter when it might be raining, or light snow, down south and blizzard conditions farther up north.

I wonder why GMRS users in Los Angeles are complete opposite.  It's like the gates to the jungle their

Does anyone ID, or is it a free-for-all?

80% No...  and then 60% south of the border language.... and boy do they flap the jaw.. A good handful can go on from sun-up past sun-down and you hear this in LA, Riversie and San Berdino Counties..   San Diego is pretty much the same.

The Crestline .575 repeater is the official "Radio TJ" non-english repeater in our area - it has a footprint roughly from north San Diego County east toward Landers and Joshua Tree Nation Park, well into Big Bear north east at least to Barstow, and northwest at least to Inyo County...

and yah, there are some long-talkers on that repeater .. Look at the radios behind me in my videos.. They're all set to Ch 16 / .575.. in my newest video I dont think they turned off once.
