GMRS Fee Removed Altogether?

At the risk of breaking netiquette by posting a forum link to another forum post, I found it interesting over on RadioReference today... apparently some folks have found that the GMRS license cost on the FCC website is currently $0. Not sure if it's a glitch or intentional, but if you're up for renewal soon, today might be a good time to do it:

I just checked and it came up as $65

I applied for a new call yesterday (as I let mine expire a few years ago) and there was NO FEE. I've heard this from several people on other forums. Not sure if it was a glitch that is now fixed, but I can confirm that it happened to me.

Regulatory fee? or License fee? I can see that the Regulatory fee has been eliminated, but the License fee still seems in effect.

There was actually a glitch in the system yesterday morning that allowed for Part 95 licenses to be applied for without a fee associated with them. It has since been returned to the $65 price point.

The licensing fee for GMRS needs to be completely eliminated. There is no legitimate reason to have a fee when GMRS is already overloaded with non-licensed users and the FCC rarely enforces violators.

look at the bright side, when the SFinally H's T Fan, there wont be very many people alive to tie up the radio anyway.
