Midland MXT500 missing some DCS codes in its programming software.

Question

Posted

I am trying to program in DCS privacy codes on repeater channels where my club requires and I have discovered that Midland's software for the MXT500 is missing some I need.  For instance, 036N.  What's with that?  Midland strikes again.

Thank you.  Not certain as to type of repeater.  New to the local GMRS club that owns the repeater.  Have sent an email to them to get more info as to why that particular DCS code was chosen.

I do see from the webpage that Yaesu and Kenwood do list the 036 DCS code.  Wrote Midland support to get an answer.  They haven't returned an answer yet.  I guess life is full of "trade-offs."  I have read that some have experienced this problem with the MXT400.

Both those lists were from HAM radios. I'm not at my work PC so can't really check my Vertex or Kenwood software. In the end its not standard which is why Midland doesn't list it. Here is a list from an old manual of the 275. Lookin back I dont see that tone in any of there manuals. The club may of used that tone to keep certain radios out of the system. I wouldn't think that would be best route but could be.

Well, I have been sufficiently humbled.  Apparently, the DCS list for the Midland MXT500 is out of order.  Instead of finding 036N at number 6 on the list of DCS codes, you will find it at number 84.  Must have been an after thought on Midland's part.  Well, it is early in the morning, or I have not had sufficient coffee, or I am just plain stupid.  Please opt for the "insufficient coffee intake."

Glad you got it worked out. I found a couple of sites that listed that but said "may or may not be in radio" so I didn't suggest it. Again this is due to non standard tones. Not sure why some manufacturers use them but it does add some confusion.
