WRZX444 Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 I hope this is not an obvious question but I heard an Icom IC-7300 can be used to receive/transmit on GMRS frequencies? Thanks for any responses... Quote
MarkInTampa Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 It can not. It's a HF/6 meter radio and can't receive over 75MHz. SteveShannon and WRZX444 2 Quote
tweiss3 Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 And the IC-9700 can't even receive GMRS, its filters are too tight it has a hard stop at 450MHz. Quote
WRYZ926 Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 There are a few Icom radios that can have the MARS Mod done which will allow them to transmit on GMRS. The IC-7300 is NOT one of them though. I will let others discuss the actual legalities of doing such modifications. Quote

The old IC706MKIIG is one, but the power output is low due to the filters. WRYZ926 Posted January 18 Report Posted January 18 The IC-5100 is another one that can be modded. I know guys that have done it and the mod works fine. Quote
