this is weird or just me. Went to chnl 30, freq 462.7250...put in NO offset, NO DCS, NO R/T-CTCSS but the radio added the + offset and I can't get rid of it.

Does this chnl/freq automatically ad the offset? If I switch to VFO, it isn't there, just under chnl mode....Radio is a UV-5G plus...

Ideas?

Thanks

It’s a gmrs radio.  Anything after 22 will have offsets pre programmed for repeater use.   467.xxx is for accessing repeaters not for simplex.   A 5g (gmrs radio) will not transmit in Vfo mode.

You didnt let us know what kind of radio it is, but just like @WRXP381 said, if its a GMRS radio, it is working exactly as designed and doing exactly what the user-manual says it will do.

If you want to transmit and receive on the same frequency use one of the simplex frequencies. Channels 15-22 receive on the same frequencies as repeater channels 23-30, BUT there is no offset.
So, rather than selecting channel 30, use channel 22.  It transmits and receives on 462.725 MHz
