dosw Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 You can also listen to channels 15-22 Sunday afternoons, weekday evenings, and take notes if you find a net running. Sometimes they'll explain how to participate. You usually need to the squelch tones. But you may gain enough information to find someone to contact. Or if you have a scanner, you can set it to find the tones for you as you're listening to a net in progress. It takes more work, for sure. One time I heard a couple of people on a repeater say they're going to switch to simplex on 18, open. I switched over, and asked them about the repeater. They were happy to help. Quote
BoxCar Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 You can create an account on Repeterbook and install the phone app. It will return local repeaters based on your phone's location. Quote
SteveShannon Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 4 hours ago, WSCL812 said: How do I find repeaters in my area. Repeaterbook has its strengths, but if you’re looking for GMRS repeaters this site is the more complete database. Click on Repeaters (like @amaff points out), and then click on where it says “near me” assuming your device knows your location. WRUU653 1 Quote
WRYZ926 Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 While repeaterbook.com does list GMRS repeaters, their list is a bit outdated. This website is a lot better when it comes to having an up to date repeater list for GMRS repeaters. WRUU653, SteveShannon and WRXR255 3 Quote
WSDC279 Posted July 21 Report Posted July 21 Be aware some repeaters may not be active....there are some in my area (napa valley) that have not been updated by owner in 14 years??? Quote
