1 quarterwave Posted August 9 Report Posted August 9 "When programming a radio, the technician (or user) would select one of these 84 codes, which are represented as 3-digit octal numbers in the CPS. In some Motorola models, it is possible to select Inverse DPL - this is merely a 1's complement of the DPL code and allows another ~84 codes to be used on a system." WRXB215 1 Quote
0 BoxCar Posted August 9 Report Posted August 9 The letters designate if the code is normal or inverted. I haven't dug into DCS tones enough to understand the differences. WRUU653 1 Quote

My radio is a TidRadio TD-H8 DCS isn’t a tone; it’s a digital pattern. All the bits are inverted for the I version compared to the N (normal) version but that doesn’t necessarily mean there are twice as many patterns because a digital pattern that is inverted is equal to a normal pattern. For example if you invert the hexadecimal value for “A” it’s “5”. So why is that done? Good question. Edited August 9 by SteveShannon Correct my statement. It’s been too long since I’ve thought about flipping bits. WRUU653 and RayDiddio 2 Quote
