WRZD727 Posted August 24, 2024 Report Posted August 24, 2024 Went to program a KG 905G, and it will not connect with radio. The com numbers are greyed out and can’t pick one to use. And Buy Two Way radios is closed on Saturdays!! ( go figure) my Retevis software works fine and I’m running windows 10. Anyone know of a fix? Quote
Guest Posted August 24, 2024 Report Posted August 24, 2024 Sounds dumb but make sure your cable is pushed in to the radio? Quote

All the ports greyed out would seem more like a not detecting the cable/chip correctly, rather than a radio-end issue. Do you know what chip the cable is using, by chance? There's been issues with prolific chip drivers, that using an old version of the driver (miklor.com has one for the baofengs) often fixes it. SteveShannon and WRUU653 1 1 Quote

I plugged the usb cable in while the radio was turned off, and started working on com port 4 after I turned the radio back on. Doesn’t make any sense, but at least it’s working! wayoverthere and SteveShannon 2 Quote

That is the way it works. you need to have the radio off when plugging the USB cable in while the programming software is open. This goes for pretty much every hand held radio I have programmed and no matter what programming software I use. Glad that you figured things out. WRZD727 and Raybestos 2 Quote

I've tried both laptop ports. WRYZ926 Posted December 31, 2024 Report Posted December 31, 2024 Glad you got it figured out. That being said. All of the Wouxun programming software from Buy Two Way Radios is Windows 11 compatible. I have never had any issues with the Wouxun software for the KG-XS20G, KG-1000G, KG-935G, and KG-Q10H when using the Wouxun programming cables from Buy Two Way Radios. All bets are off when using third party cables from Amazon, especially if they have a copied/pirated Prolific chip in them. The Wouxun two pin cable also works well for other brands of radios with the 2 pin Kenwood plug. I've also not had any driver issues with the Wouxun cables in Windows 11 Home or Pro version 23H2. I have yet to upgrade to Version 24H2. SteveShannon 1 Quote

WROE701 Posted Wednesday at 11:02 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 11:02 PM I am running windows 10 and the Kg-905g software i downloaded from Buy Two Way Radios works fine. They did mention you cannot use the Kg-805g software, you must use the KG-905G software. There is also an other driver for the cable I also downloaded and installed from Buy Two Way Radio .com. Interesting to hear it doesn't work in windows 11. Quote
