WSEL835
Hi ,I’m new to the gmrs and building a personal repeater. I’m wondering how to choose my frequency correctly. What is the best way to do so! Wsel835 listening
gortex2
Well Id start with the map on this website and see if any are listed. Next I'd listen to every pair via a HT or mobile. Next I'd listen to each pair at the location and antenna you want oput the repeater on. From there I'd pick a channel/. Socalgmrs
Why do you need a repeater. Did you fully read and totally understand the post about new users and repeaters? If you’re having to ask this question I’d bet the answer is no. It’s such a basic thing. Look for other repeaters both listed and unlisted (monitor the 8 pairs for a week or so at different times a day). and try and choose a channel pair that has no other local repeater or if they are all taken in your area either use the least trafficked channel or maybe you don’t need another repeater in your area. WRKW566
Or like myself, and I do not intend to add a repeater to the area, he can't hit the local repeater without a better antenna system or he is constrained to using hand held radios and he cannot attach better antennas. I can hear two repeaters from my house but they are 30+ miles away in different directions and at best weak reception here with no hope to open one of them from here. I am interested in the active position many people take against GMRS users improving the coverage area where they live. I live in a GMRS "desert" with respect to repeaters and would welcome someone with resources adding repeater coverage to my area. Help is why he came here, try to help him make a good decision. Stop trying to defeat his plan before he even learns what he's trying to do. I agree the purpose of this forum is to assist new user and give him/her advice on how to operate their radio the proper way not to shoot down their request for help SteveShannon, WRYZ926, WRUU653 and 1 other
WRYW480
I’m not replying to this message but I have a question about access to a repeater listed by the Broadnet Repeater Group. I am a member. I have a Boafeng GR 15Pro. Here is my problem: I want to connect the Broadnet GRMS Repeater Systems at 462.625. When I log on to their listing on myGMRS.net I see: the frequency and then it says input and output tones unlisted. Also, I see the word Zello a lot when I am reading. So: when I turn my radio on, what do I set my Channel number to and then the frequency number. It says the offset number is +5 MHz. Can you tell me what should set the dial to: when I turn it on the top number says CH. 1 and the bottom number says DIY 1. Thank you very much. WRXB215
Could be CH26 or 18RP I don't remember what it is on that radio even though I have a couple. Don't worry about the offset, as long as you are on a repeater channel, the offset is already set. Forget about Zello. Request the tones from the owner. Once you have the tones, read the manual for how to set them on the radio. You can also use the CPS which is easier than manually programming. At this point, if you have a problem, start a new thread describing exactly what you have done and what problem you have encured.
