Btech gmrs50v2 channel programming

Question

Posted

Upon further research, am I understanding that the 50v2 can’t be programmed to tx on frequencies outside its pre designated channel selection? I have programmed in numerous repeaters, as well as some gmrs channels with privacy tones and it appears I can’t talk on these channels.

how I see it is on the 50v2 if I go to channel 12, if it’s not 467.6625 mhz it won’t allow tx, even if it’s another gmrs channel. My plan was to have the the gmrs channels programmed then use the adjacent channels in the 50v2 for local repeaters. It comes off as the 50v2 is locked down a little harder than anticipated.

Per FCC rule, mobile GMRS radios are not permitted to transmit on channels 8 thru 14.

..and IIRC, the 50v2 is locked so that it can only transmit on GMRS channels - however you can setup additional GMRS repeaters and custom GMRS channels with tones, and save them as custom channels.
