Shortarms Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 Ok since I work in a prison, I'll ask the experts lol Most said what's ham, and gmrs how would I get there address from letters and numbers. One said if there over two hours away it's not worth the time to try it because what if someone is home or what if there poorer than me it would be a waste of time. No, I didn't ask them but after 18 years I've talked to a few about crime shows so serval ideas have come up. Bogieboy01 1 Quote

I know how to, most crooks will not worry about traveling too far and most done know what ham or gmrs is. let alone if they hear callsign very few know how to look up a call sign brasda91 1 Quote
WRUE951 Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 Facebook Marketplace a danger zone.. A guy selling items from his home, giving one of his buyers his home address found out the hard way.. Apparently he friended a buyer one day, telling the friendly buyer all about him and his wife's upcoming two week cruise. The guy came home to a ransacked empty home. The buyers breadcrumbs on Facebook were fake.. Never caught SteveShannon and RIPPER238 1 1 Quote

I wasn’t aware that you could do that. I believe it’s prohibited. not prohibited at all....they ask for a mailing address, not physical address when you apply for a GMRS license... try checking my callsign, WSHS666 (gotta love that callsign, half the guys on the local repeater call me triple inverted nine instead of 666 or triple 6) WSFL951 and SteveShannon 2 Quote

My employee number at work is 666. Don’t know if that’s lucky or not. Bogieboy01 1 Quote
DeuceoneRadio Posted 19 hours ago Report Posted 19 hours ago You hit the nail on the head. People should do their research before committing to anything. Unfortunately you didn't. I just want to say there's being cautious and then there's paranoia. Worrying about something that has way less than a 1% chance of happening will just drive you crazy. Don't do that to yourself. Don't do that to your family. Quote
WSHH887 Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Just a thought, but those who have intentionally given false addresses on the license application are guilty of a federal crime. Now the chances of being found and convicted are very slim but I imagine those disingenuous individuals would scream the loudest if caught. Plus it exhibits just plain low moral character.
