  4. just getting into the GMRS side of radio , I have been a ham radio operator for 20 + years the name is William located in Vero Beach i have my radio connected to my outside antenna at about 40 feet in the air hope to hear some people soon
  5. WHAT??????? You only brought 12 power rings for all of us????? Happy Easter everyone.
  6. This makes sense to me, but the TD-H3 doesn't have 'banks', so no way to separate them as far as I know. That would be nice, though.
  7. Just dropping in on this old post to say thanks. I was having a similar/same problem. Hooked her up to chirp and found codes on many channels. Works like a dream now!
  8. Crap, there’s 30 of us? I only brought a dozen doughnuts. Happy Easter everyone! ️
  9. As I mentioned on my last post (just above your reply) that I downloaded a copy last night and the restriction notice is no longer there.
  10. The saying "never bite the hand that feeds you" definitely fits here. A lot of people over there like to give long and convoluted replies trying to show their superior intellect while proving just the opposite. I made a reply on radio reference one time and kept things as simple as possible so anyone could understand the answer and quite a few jumped on me for it.
  11. EDIT: I didn't read onto the next page to see you answered my question haha.
  12. There's always that "one guy" that walks into the room and instantly puts out that "I'm here to complain" vibe. No doubt he could create a website that would be much better Sheesh
  13. On any given day there may be many posts. I’ve seen as many as ten pages of online users (including a bunch of guests) at any one time. Easter weekend might not be typical. If you are only seeing older posts you are doing something wrong. If you spent $50 to “unlock your computer from windows” you are doing something wrong. This site pays for itself by including advertising, but you can purchase levels of membership that completely block all advertising. It’s not unheard of for people to do something wrong, but it’s fairly stupid to blame everyone but yourself. There are some very smart people on this site who would be willing to help you but you kind of burned that bridge before you crossed it. Yes, you appear to be lost.
  14. The site guidelines (see number 8 ) ask that tones not be posted outside of the private area and tones that are not listed need to be obtained from the owner of that repeater on the repeater map site of mygmrs. You’ll need to send a request to the owner if the repeater isn’t open and tones are not posted.
  15. Gregory: You've only had your license for 12 days and already you're a radio einstein. Where is your computer system protection? You probably either don't have any protection or you're using one of those cheap protection systems that came from a far-away land that don't speak english. It appears that the Radio Reference Forum would be more suited for you. You'll more than likely will fit in a lot better with all the Old Duffers" and "Sad Hams" that think they know everything and don't have a clue on knowing the difference between a burnt biscuit and their dark spot orfice. You have a lot in common with them. There is no doubt that there are more than 30 of those radio einsteins that fit the bill. It's a real peach of a group for you. So, go enjoy.
  16. Yep, and wait for it. Someone just might come in and say, "Well, I'll just install a receive preamp and brute force the receiver" not taking into account they are also raising the noise floor with reduced selectivity and adjacent signal rejection. Of course there are some very tight frequency specific preamps, but they are expensive. On a repeater it might create more issues that will drive up the costs to get your Band-Aid working. Definitely a bad move if your repeater is located in an oversaturated RF environment.
  17. AI is something to tread lightly with. I Don't trust ANY AI apps or programs, but then I have trust issues, anyway.
  18. One of the repeaters I use has better reception than transmission which is rare. I was able to contact my wife with my 20 watt mobile and when she responded I wasn't able to hear her from the 50 watt repeater.
  19. I reset the clock and got it to WB but still at .5uv it will not key.
  20. Anyone know the tones for this repeater ?
  21. I just downloaded a copy and yes the restrictions are no longer on the license.
  22. Sure. Sounds good. I put all my antennas in old satalite dish mounts left behind.
  23. This is exactly right. Increasing the power results in more ERP, you never completely make up for the losses. And increasing the power does nothing for reception.
  24. It appeared on mine from 2021, but as of a few months ago if you redownload it, it wasn’t appearing on people’s licenses. There was a thread about it a few months ago. Merely reprinting a license that you downloaded a couple years ago would not reflect the change. Here’s the thread:
  25. What I posted is a photo of my license that I downloaded and printed in October 2023.
  26. i have a Harbor Freight Telescoping flag pole mounted on my 5th wheel trailer (rear ladder mounted) that i slide a home brew Copper J-Pole with 3D printed clamps. This set up is for a portable repeater when camping. Fully extended im getting about 20-25' and with no obstructions around me i get pretty decent coverage. It doesn't take much to hamper the signal, a few trees will kill the signal quality. You should see the same type results.
