There is no coordination through the FCC. Self-coordination is the typical method. If you're already thinking about installing your own 20 watt repeater, have you determined that there are no other repeaters in your area that offer you the coverage you need? If so, you should have a pretty good idea already of what pairs may be available in your area. There's a pretty long thread on the site that goes over many of the issues of standing up your own repeater. https://forums.mygmrs.com/topic/1402-you-just-got-your-gmrs-license-now-you-want-your-own-repeater/

I am thinking about installing a 20W repeater. Is there a process as to coordination with nearby repeaters or getting FCC permission. How to select a frequency pair? Thanks for the help. Dan WSHM507

But you would be a real dickenzian for doing so...

Actually Steve, no I wasn't kidding. I do it, because it works. But I do see your point.

I signed up for a yearly premium access. Logged out and logged back in a while later. I see no sign of how to create my Club. Does it take time after upgrading your membership for this feature to show up? Thanks in advance for any information on this. Thank You SHTF Radio Networks

Speaking of Del Webb, I was always impressed with the commercial buildings his company built. They put brass plaques on them with things like the architect and project manager's names. They took pride in what they built. Sadly today most builders put up buildings that barely meet code and begin to fail as soon as the last nail is driven.

Hmm, it appears that rules do not prohibit me from putting up a repeater on the same frequency and tone that is within an ear shot of another repeater that requires permission to use as long as I don't interfere with an ongoing communication with that repeater because I can use any freq and tone I want and that other repeater owner can only whine and snivel all he wants.

You're fired again. Waste belongs in the drain. Elon Musk would have a hay day with your silly

You did good and really had your brain cells cooking, Son. But I use company vehicles and don't have to worry about all those things you mention, it's on their dime. It's totally and utterly foolish and breaks every terrestrial and celestial boundary of human stupidity to NOT use the creative part of your brain.

I would like to drive your car for a road trip next month. Make sure its full of gas, has the oil changed, 4 new tires, a/c is freshly recharged. When i return it with two flat tires, the transmission slipping, dents and scratches all over it, busted tail lights and 5 parking tickets in the glove box dont be upset because It's totally and utterly foolish and breaks every terrestrial and celestial boundary of human stupidity to pay drive my own car on a road trip Do all GMRS operators lack creativity and self awareness?

you are talking about 'stencil' strenght and fiberglass and carbon fiber far exceeds that of steel. Many studies out there,, Google it!.. Pretty much the reason they use Fiberglass to manufacture boats, which have no issues with flexing and or cracking. Using steel would require greater thickness to achieve the same strength resulting in greater weight.. Steel works great in conditions needing high compression strength, stiffness and heat resistance.

My Weller equipped soldering station with my fan to blow away the Pb fumes from my Kester solder and to guarantee that I have the real stuff, nothing was purchased from Amazon. I have always wanted to dive into the SMT soldering, but I lack the engineering and technician education and expertise on that subject. So, it is just mostly soldering and splicing and joining wirings together and sometimes soldering connectors on coaxial cables.

I've been a fan of the Stanceworks YouTube channel for awhile. His latest video shows him installing his new Motorola communications system in his race car. While watching it I remembered this thread. Nice system, but don't know if it's $3000+ (uncle Sam get his cut) nice. Also wonder how it's licensed.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUMMaMSrLBQ

That kinda looks like my attic for one of my three antennae. By any chance do you have a Del Webb constructed home? I am using a Laird non-ground plane mobile antenna.

I easily resolve that issue by saying this establishment only accepts checks. Seems GMRS has more of that issue than the ham bands.
-
That problem is easily remedied by talking politics on the air. You're guaranteed to wake up at least 50% of the lurkers.

I traveled thru said areas on vacation runs and telling you my experience. I often travel to the Las Angeles areas both from the East to West and visa versa and that area is a mad house on every channel. I honestly can't recall a single time not getting interrupted on a radio call by someone being a jerk. I'm not necessary referring to repeater traffic but more of simplex communications in both FRS and GMRS frequencies. I have had some problems on repeater frequencies but seldom.. When we travel in groups we always use simplex channels because there is no need to tie up a repeater frequency.. However, the stuff i hear on the repeaters channels may not be annoying but for the most part comical. I swear, when i travel to L.A. i hear the same guy hollering out for radio checks on practically every repeater i have programed like a broken record.. No, i dont want to talk to that guy, it's not you by any chance is it ...
