Having trouble with KPG-46 USB Programming Cable
WSGZ436 replied to WSGZ436's question in Technical Discussion
The new cable worked. Make sure you buy a FTDI cable with the chip in it. No drivers to load. Just plug and play. -

Them Santa Ana Winds work in mysterious ways

They definitely are not legal for GMRS. Every time I try to use mine on GMRS frequencies the FCC helicopter lands nearby to write me a ticket.

You can't measure SWR on handheld radio antennas without very specialized equipment.

Hello, I just had a $25 subscription charge by myGMRS.com on April 26th which I think is for access to one of the New York City GMRS repeater groups. I'm happy to pay it (I think it is a renewal from last year when I first signed up), but I'm confused that I can't see it listed anywhere on my account. And I actually also can't see where my annual subscription for myGRMS.com is listed (pretty sure I am a premium member). I can see this New York City GMRS repeater club listed in my profile, but no way to leave it. Please advise! Ian

Great little radios. Don't think they are legal for GMRS...

Hello, I have the HYS-771N SMA FEMALE GMRS Antenna and I'm getting a SWR of 19.9 on my Tidradio H* GMRS. I would avoid using this antenna.

We know all about the Chevron Doctrine. Where the regulatory agencies decided they could be judge, jury, court and prosecutor of all decisions. And then make sure all the "fees" are made payable to them.

All regulatory agencies interpret their rules to their favor, from the ATF to the other end of the list. FCC is no different. Unlike some of the other agencies they don’t seem to enforce their interpretations very often. I have no idea how you reached such a conclusion, and it’s not worthwhile trying. I’m glad they post both the rules and the regulations . I even agree with many of their interpretations.

Maybe the signal was working its way bouncing along through the Cajon Pass and up through the Santa Ana Canyon with the winds?

You had fire? That must have been invented later. -

Good work! I'm old enough to remember when making fire was enough to impress the spouse. -
There is zero chance of that happening. Even the most diehard 9mm owners love and respect The Lord's caliber.

Wouxun Mobile Magnet Mic Hanger defect description and fix
WRNU354 replied to WRNU354's question in Technical Discussion
No doubt, the HLN9073 is the more elegant of the two designs. JJHXSM-like mic holders came with my Wouxuns mobiles. They are a little bendy, but useable. However, to use one in my particular car, it would require me to screw it to the dash or center console and suffer an awkward reach or create interference with other stuff. None of which are acceptable to me. The magnet solution, while imperfect, allows me to secure the mic to the radio's mounting bracket without effort or precision. Thanks for the information! -
The Red's records off of the carrier signal and not just the audio. As long as you have the transmit button down it will stay open (or until the timer times out).

Hey, I tried to drift the thread to .45 acp versus 9mm.

What fun would that be. Some of us look for stuff like that to "fix" for the heck of it. My wife was complaining that the new larger paper towel rolls wouldn't fit her holder. I said buy a new one, she like the existing one. So out to the garage, a full roll of the triples a tape measure and the appropriate sized drill bits. Less than five minutes. She's happy and I got to use tools.
